There is no perfect age after 21 to have a child. If you wait for the perfect time, you'll never find it. The perfect time to have a child is when you are in a stable marriage where you have a lot of love. Also, you want to be in a good physical shape, so the longer you wait, the less you'll be able to enjoy. I certainly could do more with my child I had at 22 than the one I had when I was older.

When you're mature enough to handle one. For some people, it's 17 or 18, and for others, it's not until they're in their mid-30s. Just remember that once you reach the age of 30, your eggs start to deteriorate in quality. Not instantly...this happens gradually, but it's the main reason why women who are older (mainly those in their late 30s/early 40s) have a much higher rate of having a baby with a birth defect.

There's no perfect age. You are more fertile in your 20s, and your risks of genetic defects are lower. You will be younger as your kid ages so you can really be there while they are growing up, and not be a burden on them when you are old, till they are old enough to handle it.

On the other hand, 30 and 40 something parents are more mature and more ready to handle to the responsibities of parenthood. Pregnant is prefectly safe when you are older, you just need to be watched more closely but older women are more responsible to take care of themselves.

I would go for it as soon as you feel you are ready. There are no guarentees either. I started trying at 26 and am only pregnant now (with a keeper) at 31.

Here are the rough statistics. The chances of down syndrome increase as you age 1:1000 at the age of 30 and 1:200-400 at the age of 35. The chances of viable eggs are 80% at the age of 30, 45% at the age of 35, 10% at the age of 40. The complication of birth increase every year after the age of 30. You should be ok to wait until 30 but really the body was ment to have children in her twenties. Unfortunately, in todays society it seems that people in there 20s are so immature and are not ready until they are in their 30s. Good luck.

I say as long as you can afford to have a baby and your relationship is strong, then wait a couple more years. Start trying at about 28. Then, your fertility is still good. I waited and then found it hard to concieve. We tried for 3 years. Then in your 30's your fertility goes down with each year. So you have to think of when you'd try for the second child.

Age is one thing, but the most important aspects of having a child is maturity, love, and definitely money. How are you going to take care of this child? Are you ready and willing to put this child first in your life? Good Luck

I had my baby at 20. But I think that mother nature will tell you. My pregnancy was not planned. If I coul dhave waited I still probably wouldn't have. My son has made me grow up and be a real women. He is the best thing that could have happened to me and my fiance ( the baby's dad)

The longer you wait, the more you increase your chances of having a baby that is not normal. The chances of a Down's Syndrome baby increases with the age of the mother.

I don't think there is a perfect age. What matters is being in a loving, secure marriage before welcoming children into your family.
