In the bible Jesus said that some people regarded him as a dunkard and a glutton, based on his behaviour. So you have a real question here; but there is not enough "court of law" evidence to say what his usual state was. Obviously though, whatever amount he drank it didn't seem to set him back much - based on the clarity of his teachings.

However, as has been pointed out, the wine in those days is reputed to be pretty bad. If it was bad then it is unlikely he drank a lot as he would have been wise enough not to spend day after day with a thumping hangover.

Incidentally, I think "bluebootz" makes a very relevant point.

To answer your question, instead of rambling on about the quality of wine or water in those days, or whether Jesus was without sin (neither or which were part of the question):

He was a drunk. Alcoholics go to meetings.

Consider the cultural setting. In many areas of the world, the local water was poor. Unless you were incredibly poor, you wanted to drink wine or add something to the water to help make it better (the "vinegar" given to Jesus on the cross was probably posca, the common drink of the Roman soldier---vinegar and water---and the sponge, from under the helmet, was the common "canteen".)

In modern times, it's not the amount of alcohol you consume, or how often you drink, that necessarily identifies one as a problem drinker or alcoholic. If drinking's causing problems in family life, work/school, health, legal, and/or emotional sectors....it's a problem, whether you're drinking a glassful or a caseful.

Booze is very much a part of the Christian lifestyle, the Jesus justified booze drinking and any industrious Christian can find scripture to support their need to consume alcohol. Just as they find scripture to justify killing people who spit upon the book of devils, otherwise known to some as The Bible, Christian folks find justification for having sex with children in the book of evil.

I am sure the thousands of Priests and pastors who stood before thousands of sheep preaching hypocrisy were all drunk as Jesus only a few hours later when they were molesting children in the house of the Lord...lord of child molestations maybe..

The bible is one source to find justification for many many evils...booze is but one on a list of hundreds.

In the time he was said to live, "wine" was different than now. It was mostly water, with the alcohol part used to kill disease that might be in the water. This is the same reason beer was invented. If people of that time in that geography got drunk regularly they would die of dehydration. But drinking was the least of the concerns we should have about those tales from the Bible.

In Jesus's time, it was very difficult to get clean water to drink. Drinking wine was the best way to make sure you got liquids without ingesting some dirty water and getting sick.

Now turning water into wine - that's a trick that I'd like to be able to do!

What was He going to drink, a Dr. Pepper? Back then, most people drank wine as a matter of course. Getting water wasn't as easy as turning on a faucet. Wine is something that can be preserved for future use (as opposed to water, which would eventually turn bad with extended storage).

Yes the bible says he was a party hearty type of person. but skip over that part. but he was not alone as most people drank a lot of wine in those days. But he was also a RABBI not that that would keep him from becoming one as most RABBIS had to attend marriage and other types of parties.. most of the time he stayed over till the next day before leaving and there are ways to sober yourself up after overindulgence.

Jesus NEVER got drunk. Why? Because sobriety is part of the Holy Spirit. He may have had a glass of wine with meals, like most Europeans and Mediterranean people did/do. That does not make them drunks!!!
