I have a Zenith TV that has had issues recently with the color jets not functioning (red and blue). Recently the tube went completely out and now I am not able to power the television on. I like the television asthetically, and want to know if it is possible to fix it. I dont like to "waste" something that might be fixable (within reason).

Thanks -

Zenith has had video driver problems for years. Picture tube going bad would not keep you from turning the set on. You would just have a weak ugly weird colored picture till the tube warmed up. Often we would use a so called tube rejuvinator to blast the whiskers off the guns to get more life out of them. At one time there were even tube boosters on the market that just had a transformer in line that would beef up the filiment voltage to get more output. Sounds like you need a TV tech to look at it, but does not sound like a picture tube problem at all.

Given the age of the television, it would be cheaper to replace the set than to have it reapired. Instead of paying twice for the same TV, get a new one with a warranty. With a little patience and research you can pick up a quality 32" flat screen crt for well under $400.

Yes you can get it fixed, But the cost would be much larger then the cost of a new television set.

you must make a decision.for me its more chaeper to buy a new set than fixing an old tv unit just because of what you call "sentimental value" (",)
