Most of the time when I hear Christians complaining, it is because they are being denied what they see as their right to impose their religion on everyone else. Many think that being required to tolerate other religions, and having the laws be religiously neutral, is somehow a limitation their right to control others.

There are exceptions. There are times when Christians are actually being prohibited from doing something, as a kind of backlash against the first example. And those violations are just as unfair and egregious as when done against any other religion. But the actual violations are far rarer than the first set of cases.

Christians are persecuted in America- but in reality it is nothing, a drop in the bucket compared to the persecution that Christians receive in other areas of the world. We may get called names, be misunderstood and criticized but who are we to complain and whine when there are those who are supposed to be our brothers and sisters in Christ that are being tortured , killed, having their families killed, homes vandalised, etc in other parts of the world. Instead of focusing on all the "horrible " things we have to endure, we should be praying for those who are truly suffering persecution, ministering to those less fortunate here because real tribulation will come and if we are already whining aobut the little we have to endure now, spoiled as we are , we will not be prepared, even remotely , for what is to come.

I can't call to mind, any well known case wherein a Christan has claimed persecution as an individual for their beliefs. Perhaps you might name one in addition comments.

The religion that seems to be fearful of persecution in America is that of Islam as reflected by the many press conferences which were held following 9-11 wherein leaders of the Islam religion tried to distances themselves from being identified with what we call today "radical Islam"

I presume that what you are addressing is the out cry from Christians in regards to thier arguments stemming from the issue of seperation of church and state.

Those on the front lines of making those arguements are argueing, that the intent of the founding fathers was to protect the church from being told by government how to conduct thier affairs. As was the case, in England during the 1600s, when King James broke from Catholicism regarding a divore issue.

They also make the argument (supported by documented history / the pilgrims Jamestown, ect.) that this country was founded as a Christian country and upon the principles of Chrisitanity and that the speration of church and state was not intended to protect, sheild or otherwise guard againest, government being influenced by said principles and thus, for example, they argue it is approaprate for the 10 commandments to be placed, for example, on the wall of a courthouse building.

Therefore, when it is ruled that such a display is not allowable, they are not making the argument that they as Christians or Christianity itself is being perecuted.

Their arguement is againest the eroading principles and values, upon which, this country was founded. Stating that the founding principles of this country, thus the country it's self, is under attack.

Simply said, they are not arguing on behalf of the relgion but rather, on behalf of the country.

I do not think the issue is persecuted as much as making sure our rights are given the same consideration and respect as other religions are given. Just because one person on Answers whines now all Christians do?

I am a christian. I believe all the "myths". I am trying to understand why you are so hateful to those whose beliefs are different than yours. I hold no grudge against you for believing there is no God. That's your right (especially here in the US) to believe as you wish. But what has made you so against people who believe in God, heaven, prayer. They are not bad things. If they are useless, they do you no harm. Live and let live.
