The main reason I feel the need to strongly, rudely and publicly oppose the christian religion is because of the extremists whose voices drown out all others.
For you less insane Christian folk, do you realize that I despise and oppose ALL forms of Christianity merely because it allows extremists to exist.
When Christians judge all Muslims and the whole Muslim religion to be evil because of the actions of Muslim extremists...do any of you understand that I judge ALL Christians and the whole religion as evil only because of the actions and words of Christian extremists?
Is hyposcrisy that strongly imbedded in Christian minds that you cannot understand that tolerance of extremists in your midst will only make people stereotype ALL christians as being control freaks?
For every 1 undecided person a moderate Christian brings to the religion, the extremists run off 100 undecided people...and make 100 others who have chosen another path despise all Christians.

I should also note that my posts, my questions, are mostly directed at the extremists...i apologize this one time and this one time only to any moderates who happen to get caught in the crossfire..
It really is too bad you people cannot clean up the crap in your own yard and have to rely on Atheists and Agnostics to do it for you...and not even a thank you either.

I guess I don't really understand your question and I am not being foolish. What exactly do you class as a moderate or an extremist Christian.
I don't judge the Muslim religion to be evil because of Muslim extremists. I judge it to be evil because it does not follow the tenets of the Bible and they do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. If that is an extremist view then I guess I am guilty. The whole idea of Christianity is the belief that Jesus Christ was the Son of God thus the term CHRISTIAN or Christ-like. In my beliefs you either are a Christian or you are not a Christian. Thus my conflict in what you mean by a moderate and extremist Christian. Is a moderate Christian one who never voices his views and hides anytime anyone discusses religion. Is an extremist a person who shares his faith with others in the attempt to get them to come to know Christ. What do you mean by your statements.
I would be interested to know where in the Bible, specifically the New Covenant or New Testament where it states that Christians should kill all others that do not believe??
This is stated within the Qu'ran or Koran which ever way you wish to spell it. How many Christian suicide bombers have their been in the world. I realize that this is the extremist groups that are perpetrating these vile acts. However I don't hear a huge hew and cry from the non-violent Islamic population that this behavior should stop the world over.
As for Chrsitians being control freaks, is this because the true Christian wants to share his message and let others know of the power of love and peace of knowing Jesus Christ.
I would ask you to search yourself and truly take a look at what you are protesting against. It sounds as if the words of a Christian may have gotten to you and convicted your heart. Jesus will wait for you to come to him with all your anger and all your hatred. He will take it all and make you whole. That is why he died on the cross so you can have the ability to come to him and get rid of that anger.
I hope you will take the time to think about everything I have written and if you would like to more of the Jesus I know then let me know and maybe you can learn a few of the things I have learned in my years.

Because extremists of every persuasion always make the most noise.
Shouting is always louder than the voice of reason and most of the time, the shouters and the voice of reason aren't even in the same place.
It's not as though the reasonable ones can go into the churches of the extremists and say, "sssh". It's not as though the extremists are going to allow the reasonable to come on their TV programmes and argue with them.

If people are "run off" away from Christ due to the actions of other people, they understand not why Christ came to earth, and therefore they are not ready to accept his gift of salvation.
Why have some Christians "allowed" others to "represent" Christianity? I don't see extremists as fair representatives of Christianity. If you are the type to listen to the voice most broadcast on mass media and believe it to be representative, more power to you, I guess.
So your theory here is that because you oppose some Christians, you oppose all? That's fine; oppose Christians all you like. I am not particulary interested in the finer points of your hatred. Hatred is hatred is hatred. Nothing complex about it.

THere is no such thing as a liberal christian. A liberal christian is a person who refuses to accept that a god of love is also a god of judgement. IF you follow the bible to the letter thats what god expects of you, another who picks and chooses what they want to follow may call you an extremists but the bIble says..." we count those happy who endure"

Thank you for sharing your viewpoint.
I am a Christian (a moderate I hope).
I do not have control over the words or behavior of others who claim to be Christian (and neither do I wish for such control).
Cordially,
John

Agreed. It's the moderates that keep religion sacred, and allow the extremists to run rampant on holy, untouchable ground.

Christian don't allow anything. God is in control. This is all prophesied in the bible. Those who are weak in faith or have no faith will be deceived.
Don't worry. I'll still pray for you because I am impressed by your level on intelligence. We could use someone like you on our team. Hey after all, someone prayed for me.
:) be blessed.
