unable to pay only by pay pal so i rang phone no given to explain and this( company added v.a.t) also do not speak to any one only by e mail so I left a message asking them to ring me on my home phone this was ignored as this is a computer if you cannot speak to any one
I canceled my bid (looking through this companies replies to other customers they seem to be rather abrupt with any one who is not computer literate and i come into this range of person)and sent them an e mail explaining why, that i was willing to pay by another method but that was ignored they are now threatening me with a firm of debt collecters can they do this?

Please take responsibility for your own actions. Set up a Paypal account or ask a friend that has one to pay on your behalf.

You have to pay by THEIR terms not yours. You cannot cancel a winning bid for an item won. If you don't pay by a method that they accept, then they'll open an Unpaid Item disoute and you'll get a strike. If you get enough strikes, you'll be kicked off Ebay. You need to read the entire auction and know thieir terms of payment BEFORE you bid. You entered a legally binding contract when you bid.

Always check the payment methods accepted BEFORE you bid!
If you think you can't pay with PayPal because you don't have a credit card, you can pay if you have a checking account. They deduct payment from your account. I have done this for years and never had a problem.
If they try to collect for an item you did not recieve...then let EBAY know about it. You can contest it through them
