Spare the fur and get A/C. Or a fan.
The cat will not be happy. In fact, you may need a visit to the ER, depending on the quality of the claw!

No need ever to cut or shave cats fur off. They just need a good supply of water, maybe even a couple of inches of water in the bathtub, so that they can cool off if they want.
My cats like to lie down in front of the personal table top fan I bought them for 15 dollars. They prefer to lie in the sunroom with their own fan gently blowing, than join me in the air conditioned rooms of the house.
dont cut the hair, and yes, if you wonder, have you ever seen them looking at themself in the mirror? Put a mirror on the floor, or lean it up against the wall, and the next day you will see little "nose prints" all over the mirror... yes, they are very vain, as long as you are not watching them.

I gave my cat a hair cut. With electric clippers. Crazy cat liked it, though he gave me a funny look first time he tried to groom himself afterward. If your really going to give the cat a shave leave the hair on the legs, tail and head. My mom told me that if you clipped the hair on the legs, tail and head the cat get embarrassed. Though a word of caution, cold weather will soon be here and Kitty's fur will not grow back in soon enough to keep him warm. You'd be better off petting kitty with a damp towel and getting him a fan

First off DO NOT USE A RAZER!!! IF you are going to shave your cat use a clipper NOT A RAZER!!! Cats skin is very very very loose & very easy to catch in clippers & razers! In other words very easy to cut!!! Cats as a rule do not like to be shaved & will usually hide for a few days as they are proud animals & know that they look different. Fur acts as an insulator & in general helps not only to keep animals warm but also cool. I wouldnt shave your cat but amybe buy a good box fan & leave it on where they can streath out in front of it, they wil llove it & will be much happier tahn if you shave them. If you are not experienced in animal grooming I Highly suggest YOU DO NOT SHAVE YOUR CATS YOURSELF, like I said they cat fragile skin & there are more risks involved tahn you may think. If you really do think shaving is the way to go then I suggest you go to a groomer & have it done, it will not be pricey & they are experienced & are less likeyl to cut your cats fragile skin.
also make sure your cats have plenty of fresh water available at all times & dehydration is one of the most common health problems in high temperatures

you know? cats are not meant to be shaved and I seriously dont think your cat will like it. Buy a fan or something to keep your house fresh, but i dont think that shaving your cat will be the solution. Good luck!

If you didn't shave the cat yet, I wouldn't. It will remove the fur that protects her skin from excess sun rays and injury, and will not help her as much as put her at risk.

I think he's just asking for you to fill the sink with water and give him a floatie and a catnip margarita to enjoy lounging in his new pool.

Don't do it! They take great pride in keeping their fur nice. Your cat will go into a deep funk!
