she keeps telling me that i dont need one cause i am never away from her but i want one cause all of my friends have one. how can i convince her?

By showing you are responsible enough to pay the bill. The problem is most teens use the phone way too much and the calls are very expensive. She doesn't want to end up in debt over your phone.

You have no good reason to have a cell phone.
A cell phone isn't a toy, and it shouldn't be used as a status symbol. The only time you might use a cell phone is if you are away from your home and not at a friends, such as the movies, or the park, etc. In that case a cell phone would be good to have in case of emergency. Your mom can get a pre-paid phone for you to take when you leave the house at those times.
Otherwise, find another way to fit in with your friends.
P.S. My daughters are bugging me also for a cell phone, and they are 15 and 13!

depends how old you are...
tell her "you dont want it so i look cool" but in fact "you want one because when ever I'm in trouble or in case of emergency you can call her". You can get also get prepaid which works like a phone card so you dont end up which huge phone bills

From a parents view, maybe you need to come up with a better reason for this. I wouldn't allow you one either with that excuse! Its a parents choice & as of right now mom says no! So you will have to live with it!

Its very bad for you to use the excuse that all of your friends have one. So, if all of your friends are doing drugs are you going to join in? HELLO!!!!! Parents do things for a reason. They don't do them just to piss you off.
