Since you know that Barnes & Noble is a store, then dare your friend that thinks it's a library to go in & check out a book.

I suggest going with this friend so you can watch what happens considering that it will be hilarious but remember to keep your distance. You don't want anyone to think that your with them.

I have to admit, I laughed from the thought!

B&N is a store --- plenty of debate points. Starting with Libraries are a public service that is paid for by government, B & N not only is financed by a company, it also sells stock. Furthermore, Libraries aren't looking for a profit, B & N is in business for the purpose of offering goods & services for a profit. Additionaly, when have you even "checked a book out" at B & N to take home with you, B & N would call that shoplifting, a library loans out it resources for the benefit of the community.

Hope that gives you food for thought.

It is a store. According to Wikipedia it is the largest United States speciality retailer. A library, on the other hand, is a large collection that is funded and maintained by a city or institution. In this sense, it is not merely a collection, but an organized collection, intended for use. This collection is often used by people who choose not to — or cannot afford to — purchase an extensive collection themselves, or who need material no individual can reasonably be expected to have.

My friend works at Barnes & Noble (no 's') and assures me that it is a store, not a library. LOL. If you want proof, try walking out with a book without paying for it.

Barnes and Nobles would technically be an online store as well as a physical store

It's a store, but with all the rude, cheap people that clog the aisles in chairs reading books from cover to cover and getting in everyone else's way, it feels like a library.

Definitely a store. Although it has a library-like quality in that they let you sit around reading books without buying them.

A store ,ask your friend how they can keep their doors open if people just stop in and read the books there without buying any thing.
