Citris is something the kitties don't like. Our cats hate mint. Something else you can do is everytime you see them near the sliding door you can spray them with a water bottle, it's kind of harsh, but it will keep them from going near the sliding door. That's how we discipline our kitties when they are clawing at our furniture, etc, we spray them.

Most animals do not like the smell of vinegar. What you should so is get a spray bottle and fill it just over half way with water and the rest of the way with white vinegar.

This also helps take away the odours of wee and poop on your carpets. If this should happen.

As I understand it, anything with a strong Citrus smell is supposed to deter cats & dogs.

Beware of ever using Bleach, as cats think it is urine markings from a strange cat, and immediately start to urinate over it to cover the markings of a stranger in their own territory..... I learned this one the hard way.... I thought the smell of bleach would keep the cats away.... oh boy!

Oranges, lemons, anything with a strong citrus smell, particularly citrus peel. You might try glass cleaner with a lemon or citrus scent.
