The egg came first. Because as that species evolves throughout the years, at one point when the animal hatched it have evolved into what we now know to be a chicken. What ever hatched the egg was not yet a chicken. hundreds or thousands of years inbetween the evolution process of the"chicken". The egg came first. Unless of couse you believe in "God". Which I don't.

Chicken. It came from God's Creation, not from an egg. Of course, all other chicken came from eggs.

1-religious- The chicken because god created it
2-Science- The egg. An animal slightly different than the mordern day chicken laid eggs that contained the chicken of today. Evolution.

You know what...... think of this: what came first, the baby or the human? It's obvious a grown adult female and male would've had to exist to have produced a fetus, thus a child. So, the chicken probably came first.
