It is natural instinct for a dog to eat grass when their stomach is upset. Don't worry your dog will be fine... if probably has an intestinal problem and its also normal for him to not drink since he doesnt feel well...

Labs are always eating junk, it could be an obstruction. Has he been straining to pass fecal matter? That's my first idea; as for Parvo, dogs any age can get it but most older dogs are vaccinated and so don't get it. If your dog didn't have immunity to the virus he can still contract it though it won't be as likely to be fatal as in a puppy. There are also lots of Parvo imitators out there so don't think the vaccine can cover them all. I think it only covers 40 and there are like 300 different strains. Part of the reason I don't vaccinate but that's another story.

It could be a number of things but your vet should be able to tell with tests. My suggestion would be to have the vet put him on IV fluids since dehydration is a very real worry. Has he had all his shots, heart worm meds etc? At 2 he could still get parvo but the signs of that are usually very pronounced with diarrhea and vomiting. If he were my dog I would be at the emergency vets right now. Good luck.

yea my German Shepherd did whenever she was young. The vet said she must have ate a bug or some old food. It could be anyhting though. Anyways she didnt eat for 5 days and I thought she was gonna die, But the vet gave her some pills and she's fine as ever. It sounds like his stomachs bothering him, he probably just ate something bad. You could give him Pepto Bismol, but I'd wait till you got back from the vet just to be safe. He's to old to have Parvo and if he did he would be blowing blood out of his butt and it would be really watery. Don't worry about Parvo thats highly unlikely.

So sorry your dog is sick, lots of good advice above, just get him to the vet in the a.m. In the meantime, if you are so worried, sleep near him so you can keep a good watch, I'm sure he'll make it through the night okay. He would probably love a little TLC, knowing those Labs! Good luck.

Does your vet have an emergency number? If not I would find a 24 hour clinic close by to take him to if you are that worried. I am not a vet and really can't give you any advice on this matter but I know how that can be when one of your dogs is ill, its really scary because they can't tell u what's wrong with them.

dont force him to eat it will make him sicker and he will become dehydrated...he has a stomach virus just like we get the flu...just makes sure that he is drinking water and there should be nothing to worry about...if he starts throwing up the water there are pills called reglan at the vet you can get to stop the vomiting....i go through this every year with my dogs..its a nightmare but amazingly a dog can actually go a week with no food as long as they are drinking water...good luck, i know how you feel....

your dog is eating grass BECAUSE he is sick the grass isn't making him sick. my dog went this way when he was dying of heartworm. But he was also a lot older and his legs started to go like he couldnt walk. it could just be that your dog has a cold or something?
