The government has no business forcing any religious education on students. Religious violence is rare in the US only because the government, at all levels, officially takes no sides in religious issues, and does not play favorites between religions or sects within religions.

As soon as US public schools start engaging in religious instruction, you will start to see the same kind of sectarian violence that is so common in other countries.

No the Bible was never legally banned from the school districts, neither was prayer. The only thing that was banned was the forced public reading of the bible or forced public prayer. It is just some overzealous readings of the laws that stopped forced public prayer and bible reading that accomplished this.

The only BIbles in public schools are the personal ones people might carry around, and the occasional Bible in the library.

Song of Solomon has some pretty X-rated stuff in it. And someone's body got sliced in half, someone was eaten by worms, someone had a tent stake driven through their head, and Jesus was crucified, of course. so, there's some X-rated stuff for you, but I don't think it's banned anywhere, except maybe in uber-liberal areas.

The Bible is probably banned by all schools. They want God out and are trying really hard to eliminate the use of even his name. SAD!

I'm curious ... have you read the entire Bible?

If so, what % of the Bible would you say has such X-rated content...

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,

If I supported censorship, which I don't, it would have to be pulled on those grounds.

I always kinda liked this one (Song of Solomon Ch 5 Verse 4)

My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
