Yeah, I do believe in both. Because I found both in one person... The love of my life.

Miracles are events that occur with no known cause. That does not mean the cause is unknowable, only that it is not known at this time.

Soul-mates requires a belief in the soul and there is no scientific test that demonstrate the existence of such a thing as a soul. It would appear most probable then that the soul does not exist.

1. I don't believe in miracles because they are supposed to be occurrences that defy explanation. But I think history shows that everything can be explained, eventually. If you took someone from 500 years ago and showed them an airplane, they'd probably see it as a miracle beyond explanation. All things will be answered in time. We just may not live long enough to receive an answer.

2. I don't believe in soul-mates because I don't believe in souls and thus can't begin to predict their functions. I think that we all have a concept of our ideal mate in our heads and try to find someone who fits it. No fit is perfect, unless the concept has childlike simplicity. We see who comes closest to the ideal and balance it against our chances of finding someone who comes closer and make a decision. That's it, no magic.

A miracle by definition is an extremely rare event, so in that sense they are possible if also highly improbable.

Finding a soul-mate seems to be about as rare as finding a miracle, so again the existence of one is possible but locating that person is highly improbable.

If you accept Hume's definition (see above), of course there are no miracles.
I don;t think he had anything to say about soul-mates, however.

yes i believe in miracles, i have seen a child born way way premature and he had no sight, no hearing and couldn't breath or swallow, he wasn't out of the hospital until he was almost 1 and now at 6 he can see although he is light sensitive and he can hear in one ear perfectly, he runs around playing and can eat normally now. also, everyday here is a miracle, everything we see is a miracle.
soul-mates? yes. you feel a different connection to certain people, some stronger than others so there has to be someone out there who we each have a perfect connection with, a matching soul for us to thrive off of.

1. I believe that miracles are possible. Why? Because God exists and he has the power to perform miracles.

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

2. I believe that there are individuals who have a lot of interests in common, and in this sense could be called soul-mates. Such individuals can become very romantically attracted to each other as well. In that sense, I believe in soul-mates. However do I believe that each of us has one unique soul-mate on earth -- not at all.

Cordially,
John

Yes, I have received many. The greatest one was my almost instant healing of rheumathoid arthritis after 5 years.

Don't know about soul mates. It'd be a continuous miracle i guess. In any case, my soul-mate is Jesus since I am a Secular Augustine Recollect, a kind of home nun.

I believe in miracles.

however, i dunno about soul mates. my psych class seems to think that people ending up together is a matter of proximity and how often people see or interact with one another....

and, if you believe in miracles, there is some small chance that you could believe in Christian theology, and if that is true, where do soul-mates fit into a heaven where people's earthly bonds don't follow?

just some random thoughts of mine. i honestly don't have too much of a concrete opinion.

as far as proximity etc goes, i'm in a long distance (very long distanc) relationship. the proximity factor is out but we do interract a lot.

someone said marriage along the way. I don't believe if there are soul-mates that they equate to marriage. I don't even know if soul-mates means having to be together in any sort of "relationship" in a sense of sexual intimacy etc.

and i certainly don't believe everyone is meant to be with someone(s) i think that is very much a western cultural notion of romantisism that breeds a lot of angst and even some suicides.

1) Miracles...Yes, I will admit to seeing some dark things that would be considered miracles.

2) Soul mate? Yes. I've met mine, and live with her. I'm blessed to have found her.

From deepest Dark Midnight of the Soul, to full and heartfelt love. Who sez life is dull?

And the roller-coaster ain't done yet!

Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!

I believe in miracles. I have beautiful perfect children to prove they exist. I know its corney. But also, I think there are too many great things that happen without any other reason.

I don't believe in soul mates. I used to think I did, then I met my kids' dad. I thought he was mine. Even now, we are so totally perfect for each other. The heavens and the earth moved when we were together, but he ended up being to stupid and selfish and went to jail for the last 4 years. left me with twins to raise alone. Until i got married to a fantastic wonderful (still flawed) generous guy who loves me to death.
I know, it sounds very contradictory, but that's how it worked for me.

I believe God does miracles every day....

As for soul mates, I don't totally agree that everyone is meant to be married
