They aren't for everyone but if you think about it, it is being able to tell the person you love how much you love them, in front of the people who you care the most about.
They don't all have to be filled with lovey dovey stuff. Find something that is suited to you, if you are lucky enough to find someone who wants to marry you.

I think weddings are being blown out of proportion, that's for sure.
People spend $40,000 on a wedding, if not more. That's a lot of money.
I think a wedding ceremony is beautiful, and something that I want when the time comes, but I am not spending crazy money on it. At least that's what i think now...

WELL, I DO! I THINK THEY ARE LOOKED UPON AS A SPECTATOR SPORT AND NOT SOMETHING SACRED ANYMORE. A MARRIAGE SHOULD BE VERY SACRED AND SERIOUS. IT IS AN OCCASION WHEREBY TWO PEOPLE ARE COMING TOGETHER TO BUILD A LIFE OF JOY, PEACE, LOVE, AND HAPPINESS. THEY ARE MAKING LIFELONG VOWS TO EACH OTHER AND MOSTLY TO GOD. IT'S NOT A TIME TO BE ARGUING OVER COLORS OF THE WEDDING, BACHELOR PARTIES AT THE STRIP CLUB, AND WHO SLEPT WITH THE GROOM THE NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING AND ALL THAT STUFF.
I PERSONALLY WANT A VERY PRIVATE CEREMONY BY INVITATION ONLY.

That's the point of a wedding.
If you don't like it, then get married at the court house, in a park, at your house, where ever you want. If you don't like what the judge/priest/preacher/minister says, then tell them before hand what you would like them to say.
These things are not that difficult.

I don't agree. I guess one has to have experienced love at some level to be able to appreciate the reasons for the ceremonial details.
