I know that the age to start dating depends on someone's emotional maturity, but just in general terms, what is the most reasonable, normal, perfect age to date?

And Why did you pick that age?

I think 15.

But things aren't as innocent these days. So I just don't think you should have to deal with it before then. Give yourself a chance to be you and like you before you worry about what a guy likes about you. & too many girls get caught up in what they have to /do/ for someone to like you or stay with you. Because you know, if they didn't like you to begin with -- just some fantasy of what they want you to be and you're letting them down if you don't live up to it -- you will not believe how much of your life is people trying to manipulate you to get what they want -- & I don't just mean guys, I mean friends & parents too!

I believe 18 years old is a good age to start dating. I dated when I was 15. When you are 18 you are mature

it depends on the person. Some people are not "ready" to date until 40! But that doesn't stop them! But I think that if teenagers are open in communication with parents and consistently follow the rules they are responsible enough to handle dating.

I don't think that dating is something you can control. I don't know if your asking for yourself or if you have children at home your asking about. So, if your asking for your children, I'll tell you a story, I was kinda young when I began a serious intimate relationship with a male, to be specific, I was 12. My parents forbid it, they did everything in their power to stop it from happening, guess what, I ended up rebelling against my parents, skipping school to see him, jumping out my window at night, everything that's a parents worst night mare, and all their forbidding it did was cause a lot of fighting and chaos in the household and it taught me to always lye to them. Needless to say it put a huge dent in our relationship. So my advice to you is that if your asking for your children, I would say let them date when they feel they are ready. However, now as a parent myself I am going to allow my daughter to date when she feels ready, but I am going to have 1 rule and that is that if a guy wants to date her than he has to meet me 1st and I intend to explain to her that if a guy truely respects her he won't have a problem with doing that, I will also explain to her that it's not that I don't trust her judgement, which, I'm sure (I won't), but anyhow I won't let her know that, I'll just tell her it's the respectful thing to do, then I will let dad invite JR on a hunting trip or something fun if you get my drift. If you're asking for yourself, I say when you feel that you are ready. And I would advise acting maturely about it and being forward and honest about it with your parents and letting them meet him so as that way they will know that they can trust you.

16 for real dating. By then they are actually old enough to drive and go on a real date.

i think serious dating should start when your finished school. relationships can be distracting during your school years and could detract from your studies which are very important.

of course go out with groups and have plenty of friends but serious dating should wait until you can handle both work and relationships.
