Which island do you think is best for a 28 year old single guy?

Okay, since I currently live in Maui and have lived in Oahu, let me give you some advice from my own experience...
Out of the two...for vacationers, Maui is the best (Maui no ka oi!). Oahu is really only tourist-y in Waikiki and Pearl Harbor. What do you envision when you think about going to Hawaii? For me, it's lush tropical landscapes, relaxing atmosphere, etc...which you definitely won't find in Waikiki.
Now, I've never been to Kauai, but I've heard that it's more beautiful and relaxing than Maui...so I'd say it's worth a shot.
By the way...to the poster who said Maui is mostly inhabited by celebrities...I'd like to say...HUH?! Though some celebrities have homes here, they also have homes on Oahu and the other islands. Check your facts before you go spouting off nonsense.

I would say Honolulu (on Oahu) is prob. best, as I've read Maui is real naturalistic and beautiful (great for honeymoons, but not single guys). In addition from what I've seen most of the hotels on Maui are expensive to very expensive. The best nightlife can be found in the Waikiki area, and I am assuming since u mentioned you are a single guy, I am assuming that your looking for that. I haven't been to Kauai, but I've heard it has the least nightlife.

It all depends on what your looking for?
If it is party and night life. Then Oahu.
But if you want to see HAWAII other than through bottom of glass.
Go to either or Maui & Kauai.
Kauai is very laid back. Very beautiful but not a lot of acticitves, beside the usual beach.
Maui on the other hand offers a lot to do. As well as being the Best of the Hawaiian Islands.
Maui also gets a lot of single gals traveling?

Single guys love the outdoors usually right? There's the most to do on Kauai, kayaking, hiking, rivers, beaches and the folks have a very cool aloha spirit, meaning that if a native is cooking something and you walk by, they may invite you to have a bite to eat with them. If you go in November, you may even see Humpback Whales come closer to shore for mating season.

It depends on what you want...if you want to have a lot of fun with night life, etc. Ohau...if you want some night life and slower atmosphere, Maui....if you want an even slower atmosphere and great site seeing, wtc. Kauai.

are you visiting or moving?
if visiting-
for wilderness(quiet nature deal) or shopping(clubs, malls etc)
wilderness- kauai or maui.
shopping- oahu.
if moving-
to escape or for fun
escape see wilderness.
fun see shopping.
in case you dont know, it costs an awful lot to live in hawaii and the properties are small. the only majorly inhabited island is oahu. maui is mostly populated by celebs etc.

I would say Oahu!! For a live webcam at Waikiki Beach look at the webcam at honolulu.gov/cameras then clik on Live webcam at Waikiki Beach. You will enjoy it!!

depends what you like.
oahu is waikiki and north shore.
maui is small town but beautiful.
kauai is even more small town and I don't like it but it's a lot of people's fave for the rugged beauty. lots of nature stuff to do.
