why is there more geese on one side then there is the other, when they fly in a V????????????

They get a windbreak from flying one behind the other...and also staggered to one side to defend against the crosswind.

Your question asks about why are the two sides of the vee not equal. A better question would be is why a vee at all? It would be more efficient to fly in an echelon formation, diagonal and behind each other. Cyclists use this strategy during crosswinds.
