In the summertime there are a bunch of animals, as mentioned above, but you need to remember that in the winter time the rodents and insects hibernate and the deer, elk, lions, wolves, everything moves lower to the snowline. everything. if there is snow, the only things you will really find are snowbirds, if anything at all.

Deer, mountain lions, basically california wilderness type animals. Probably a lot of squirrel-like critters too.
