Is it a dry cough or a productive cough (stuff comes up your throat)?
If it's productive, it's lingering side effects of the flu, and this can take a few weeks to go away for good. Allow yourself to cough as much as needed to clear the lungs.
For a dry cough, keep a bottle of water with you and take a tiny sip every time you feel one coming on. I also found that sucking on gummy bears soothes the throat, as it coats it with gelatin. Sometimes the coughing irritates the throat, which in turn causes more coughing. Avoid the numbing sprays, as they are harsh on the skin. Warm (not hot) tea with honey works well too. Honey has a medicinal property that soothes the throat.

Probably bronchitis or sinus infection, caused by bacteria as a secondary infection. Coughs are hard to get rid of... go see your doctor. He/she may prescribe antibiotics. The question is whether your cough is coming from your lungs directly or is there a problem with postnasal drip from your sinuses. We need more info: is there sputum - - are you coughing anything up? what color is it? is it worse at certain times of day/night?

Get a bottle of organic black strap molasses and take a tablespoonful three times a day. Lemon juice in apple cider vinegar is also powerful. For awhile, don't eat heavy, hard to digest foods.
Eat fruit and cooked vegetables and drink lots of water.

You could just use cough medicine to see if that helps -the kind for expectorant help.
But if that doesn't do the trick, then best see a throat specialist.

I'm a big believer in vitamin c so I say lots of that.
may be allergies. I've heard the spraying for west nile virus has upped a lot of people's allergies this year. and I've had problems I haven't had before.

Ideally you should see a doctor. If the weather is changing in your area, probably you should take a course of vitamin b complex for next ten days. (one capsule a day). However best is to consult your doctor.
