The body of clay returns to clay, so there is no problem of lacking of clay! The image here is not the image of clay, but the image of spirituality. If man was like the cow, there would be no civilization as we now enjoy.
If monkey became man, then other species might become monkey too! In this case it is really shameful for both man and monkey, because they are not original, but they come from the lower species!

Man made god/gods in their image, hence all the imperfections of religions claiming to speak for a god. If there is indeed a supreme being, I doubt that humans would ever be able to define it.
As little as I know about evolution I do know this...evolution does not say that people evolved from monkeys. Evolutionary theory, based on the most current evidence thus far, claims that we have the same common ancestor. That easily explains why there are still monkeys.

Good question. However the meaning of image is not that God is clay and clay became man. That would make man God wouldnt it? Furthermore God is not a physical being He is only spiritual so it cant be referring to the material aspect of the creation of Adam. It means that God instilled His image INSIDE of man. What I mean is that God instilled a spark of Godliness into man. That is why man is different from the beasts of the wild. He gave us a portion of what He has. He gave us intellect speech feelings emotions and all the good character traits that He possesses. If we were not created in Gods image we would not have love or joy or kindness. Animals are very different from people. They work on instinct. They are preprogrammed to act and react in certain ways. That is their whole existence. Man has the ability to learn to adapt to change and to elevate himself. He can interact with others and really make a difference in this world. That is the "image" that is referred to by the verse.

You just contradicted yourself there... First you ask about being from clay, and then you ask about evolution.
You are confused, Adam was made from the dust of the earth, it states that in Genesis, the first book of the old testament. How come theres still dust/clay? That can be said about everything that is alive, now, cant it?? Trees, grass, humans, YOU.......ETC
BUT, for someone who claims to be an athiest, you talk about God allot... I mean, you know of Him, and how he first started creation.
Get rid of your tough guy act, you dont fool me!

Poki needs to read his Bible.. the Bible says "let us make man in our own image"
an image is an outward appearance, we are made of his appearance.. two arms, two legs, a nose.. and so on.
