I feel anyone who puts down soldiers now or in the past ought to have their as* kicked and get a one way ticket out of the country.

A most ashamedly honest answer is that Vietnam Veterans were, and are, treated like nothing at all. The knowledge of today -- PTSS, replacements for limbs, etc. was nowhere to be found during that period of time, so most of the 'illnesses' from war could not be medically represented nor utilized. Since, and after, everything had been swept under the rug, there remains little recognition of and for these Brave Men and Women of Honor. I honor them personally .... so someday, they'll know.

The Iraqi Veterans won't have it as hard as the Vietnam Veterans. I got out of the military in 2004 and I was shocked when I applied for jobs have many employers didn't value my military service. I was applying for secretarial jobs and since I didn't do secretarial jobs in the military they didn't think I was qualified because I wasn't a secretary for 4 years even though I did them before entering the military. Horrible isn't it?

I personally think that America has learned a lesson. The troops and guardsmen that are risking their lives did not do so with the condition that it was a noble cause. When they decided to risk their life, it was done despite the public opinion of the conflict. I do NOT agree with the war in Iraq, but I am proud (and grateful) of the men and women who have chosen to live their life for me.

When this war first broke out I was concerned that we may experience history repeating itself, but I think Americans realize that it is possible to support our troops and not agree with the war. Most of the kids over there joined the military realizing they may be sent over, but really just wanting a better life for themselves. I personally don't agree with this war, but my entire family, including myself is military. My sister is going to be sent over for the 3rd time at the end of the month. We PROUDLY support her. NOPE, NO WAY these heros will be treated as badly as our Vietnam heros were.

Man I certainly hope not. I was a kid when that happened, and could not understand why my Dad was treated the way he was (He's USMC AVO ret). I remember the whole mess, and am embarassed by the behavior of some of our citizens. Just because you have the freedom to do something don't make it right.
Good question.

The loss of our creator's gifts of life on the Liberation of Freedom, Freedom fighters, Poppy's day with the Geneva convention make children at loss on what went wrong out there on planet earth.
Those gifts of life does not change with time but stays in time on planet earth.
Children exposed the blunders and slip-ups with human errors in honouring the War veterans on planet earth.
So give those gifts back to those war veterans who fought in any conflicts on planet earth.
Then the children will honour them in their home coming with some of them being casualties of war having serve for the good of mankind on planet earth.

To me the way the Viet Vets were treated was a very black mark on your history. As a Canadian, I was opposed to the war from the gitgo, but those vets deserved a hero's welcome back home. They were fighting in a war not of their choosing, but in answer to their gov't. Even today, they are still shuned to a degree.

First of all to every Vietnam Vet, Thank you for your service to our nation and welcome home! Second, there were a lot of lessons that came out of that era especially by the dope smoking hippies. They grew up and figured out they were a bunch of dumb asses for protesting the troops who did nothing more than what they were told and expected of them. They fought honorably and with pride and people realize that now. Plus, Hanoi Jane is keeping her big fat mouth shut!
