Yes, use them. You could even use them next year. Unless the chocolate is contaminated is some way--bugs, odors, something spilled on it--it is good for quite a long time. You can still use the chocolate even if it has started to turn white/light tan. The color is merely the cocoa butter separating. Age and extreme temperature change are among the causes. You could create this yourself by keeping the chocolate in the freezer. However, once some separation has taken place, it is not as appealing to eat by the piece. It is better to use the chocolate in cooking or baking or to use it as you planned by melting it so it is blended again. Homemade chocolate is an exception to the extremely long shelf life, because the same processes are not used to make it.

I think they would still be good if you've stored them in a relatively cool place. If you had them in the heat, then you'll know because they will have formed a white layer on top that makes them taste bad. Just unwrap them and look. If you see white, then don't use them. If not, melt away! And, invite me...I love fondue!

Play it safe...If you don't have access to a nearby orphanage...Halloween and Trick Or Treat is just around the corner.
Hey! Turn off the tears I'm just kidding...If those chocolate bars aren't rancid - eat 'em.

Chocolate is usually good for 12 months so yours should still be okay but use it within the next month or so.

If they become flaky... don't eat them.
Only if they are like normal hershey bars.
Sometimes you have to break them apart to see.

I would throw them away. Look for the expiration date and see what it tells you.
