ok my girlfriend is in love with mashed potatoes and i kinda tolda a white lie and told her i made the bests there was and won cooking contests in some states...i need a really good mashed potato recipe to impress her...sad but true ne helpers? lmfao

Just make homemade mashed potatoes. Take regular potatoes, and leave the skins on. Chop them into one inch cubes, and boil them until they are soft and mushy. Drain the potatoes well, add some milk, and mash the crap out of them! Keep adding milk until you get the right texture. Firm enough to stand up by themselves in a mound, but still creamy. Add real, salted butter and stir it in the potatoes. Serve with some decent canned gravy (the kind in glass jars, not tin cans or packets).

the secret to a good mash is that there has to be absolutely no lumps and it also has to have a far amount of butter/magarine in it. the good thing is all you need is potato, milk/cream (only a little) and butter/margarine. you could also add some pepper or herbs to season. good luck.

Boil the potatoes until very soft.
Drain.
Put it back in pot then add milk, butter, salt and pepper (optional).
