I have met this wonderful girl online. We have been talking for about 5 months now. I really like her and it seems that she likes me too. There is just an issue of distance between us and the fact that i'm leaving for the military. I mean, i really like this girl, she is into about 88% of the stuff that i'm into. Shes' quite perfect for me. Is this odd? Should i try to persue this relationship? Or is it doomed from that start since it is an internet relationship?

I don't think its weird you just have to be careful because there are lots of crazy people out there.Just waiting on the right person to come along so they can use them.I fell in love with a guy I talked to on the phone day and night for a year.He had the wrong number.(lol)

It's not doomed because it began as an internet relationship. It may be 'doomed' because of the distance between the two of you.

I met my boyfriend online and we have been together for over 2 years now. But we also attened the same university and live 10 miles from each other.

Side note: I think it's great that you're serving our country! Be safe out there!

You can have an interest in one. But to fall in love with someone online that is just silly. You have never met this person before "in" person. Until then, no it's not love it's just well you know what I don't know what it is.

There is nothing wrong if you choose to meet someone from online, but how can you love one you have never seen? I mean I'm not talking about photos now. Try and meet her one day in person, otherwise you ask is it doomed. Yes it is, no one can do an "online only" relationship. That is just silly.

Internet dating has a 20% chance of working out, the odds may not be perfect but I've learned that over the years but I won't tell you my story. If you think you can handle showing your affection over the internet and not being able to see the one you love, then go for it, basicly, follow your heart, and never lie to yourself.

I don't see any harm in peruing it. In fact, I have a friend who met his wife that way. They started chatting/dating right before he left for basic training. They ended up getting married after he had been in a bout a year, and they now have a beautiful baby girl.

before you commit to anything, MEET HER. the thing about falling in love is that oftentimes, you fall in love with an image. that image is your own creation, and you are projecting it onto the other person because you want to believe they are your ideal. i'm not saying the relationship is doomed, but keep in mind that you only know what she has told you about her. meet her first if you can, then see if you both want to pursue the relationship.

I've known this one girl online for about 3 years now and we still talk from time to time. We recently upped it to text messaging and I think it's great. I'm hoping to meet her soon. From my personal experience it's a good thing.
