Use soy milk, rice cereal, bananas, stop juice or water it down. The suggestion for Pedialite is good because it restores the balance of the electrolytes.

Don't use Pepto Bismal because it contains some aspirin, which is not good for young children.

Is this condition because of a virus or a constant condition? If it is a constant, allergies to some foods might be the answer. What does the pediatrician say?

I hope the baby feels better.

As soon as you can call your peditrician!

Until then...

Our 8 month old daughter had a stomach bug a couple of weeks ago. She was vomiting, had diarrhea and an occasional fever. Our pediatrician told us to give her pedialyte, mashed (jarred or homemade) bananas and little to no formula.

Our daughter hated the taste of the pedialyte (I can't say that I blame her, we tasted it and the stuff, even flavored, is nasty!). She wouldn't take it at all! We were then told to give her "LiquiLytes", Gerber's version of pedialyte. It is flavored to taste more like juices (critter likes the apple flavor) and might be a better choice.

She was over the bug within a week (well enough to take to a family gathering that weekend).

There is something called the BRAT diet for kids with diarrhea or throwing up.

B...bread
R...Rice
A...apple sauce
T...toast

its easy on their tummies. Also if you nurse...breast milk is considered a clear liquid so don't stop that. Pedia light should only be used if you are not nursing.

Get some Pedialite and try to give it to the baby. I've heard toast, and rice is good also, but maybe for an older baby....
If you have questions, you should call the baby's doctor.
