No, and it's thoughts like this that prevent people from educating themselves and preparing for disaster.

Sitting back and saying "God's will be done" is a lazy way of approaching life. Take what He's given us and use it to prepare and protect yourself!

Heh. Sure it can. Just ask the hundreds upon hundreds of people in New Orleans who hoped and prayed for Katrina to be diverted. God sure came through in that one, eh? Oops, wait a minute there...

As you can see already, many people don't believe in prayer.

I would like to give you some Biblical answers for your question.

Joshua 10

12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel:
"O sun, stand still over Gibeon,
O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."

13 So the sun stood still,
and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on [a] its enemies,
as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!

James 5

17Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

I believe that with prayer AND with God's Will, it can be done. Your intentions must be good and pure.

Yes It definately can if it is the Lord's will and if there are enough people praying for it. Read in the scriptures Genesis 18-18, how God Dealt with Abraham and delivered only Lot and his two daughters out of Sodom and Gomorrah.Abraham had bargained with the angels of God as to how many righteous people it would take for him not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord went down to as low as ten, but it had to be destroyed anyway as there were only three delivered out of the fire as the angels escorted them out and Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed. The Lord answers the prayer of those who are doing His will. I have seen many miracles in my life. One time my neighbor and I were standing in my door way watching a huge tornado not more than two miles from my house or at least that is how close it looked. It was headed right towards us.We had never seen a tornado before but it was very obvious, that one, was even bigger than the pictures we had seen on tv and it was headed right for us and it was on the ground. We and our children immediately went to the basement.I felt like if we surrived I probaly would not have a house left. When we got to the basement we started hearing The Loud tornado siren going off. We decided to get in the south west corner of the basement but it was hard to get the children to pay any attention to us. As the little ones were crying and one of the older girls was running around ringing her hands saying We are going to die! I being a praying person knew I must remain calm. I reasurred here that we were not going to die and told her we were going to pray . We all got in the corner then and prayed. Then we begin to hear the tornado and it sounded just like we had always heard that a tornado sounded. It sounded Like Chug chug , like a giant locomotive , or a giant wash machine in the sky overhead. We continuued to pray , hugging the children and shivering. Then before we really expected we heard the all clear siren. We went up stairs to see if there was any damage. We had three stories in our house but the only damage we had was three storm windows were broken on the second floor. We turned the radio on and got the news and they said that the tornado had turned directions and went East just before it got to Highway 10, the highway that went right by my front door. So we had only gotten the tail wind from the tornado! When we looked out the front door we could see the giant oak tree right across the Highway had been completely up rooted!

I believe God does hear and answer our prayers, sometimes even things involving "Mother Nature". I know of many such examples of my family living in Hawaii who have been spared from major storms, even when the storms hit all around them. However, at times, there are lessons that must be learned from adversity, so we must accept God's will, prepare ourselves, then pray for the best!

Yes and/or sometimes. Only THE MAN UPSTAIRS has the power to decide on that. But there's no harm in trying to pray and to hope that ur prayer will be answered.

While prayer has potential benefits, it is not effective against meteorological phenomenon. Think about it logically, have you ever been able to or known anyone who could prevent tornadoes or floods or fire. Prayer is good to give you peace and spiritual focus. Give me 10 points if you agree with me. Mahalo!

if its a prophecy in the bible, there is no changing it. Just like the war's we are having, and all the natural disasters. They are sighns that Jesus is coming back, read revelations. This book was written along time ago. back to back drama within the globe is recent. its not a coincedence.
