I'm Catholic too, & since I started posting 6 years ago, I have met quite a few anti-Catholic bigots on the forums.

I don't think you can really make generalizations like that. There has been a considerable amount of bad 'press' and spreading of lies about the Church in recent years, unfortunately, people often choose lies over the truth - because it's just more exciting.
I've met people that don't like Catholics, I've met people that do. I'm lucky - I live in a place where we thrive on diversity and understanding so we have very little conflict between denominations or religions.
I'm a devout Roman Catholic, my best friend is an Evangelical Fundamentalist. When she's curious, she asks, and vice versa. Communication is what will break down the walls and love will keep them down. Through compassion with each other and respecting each others religions and denominations we can create great dialogues between us.
Good question, I hope that people will look and seek understanding through it.
God bless!

I don't know anyone who dislikes Catholicism, but I know some people disagree. Catholicism is a very traditional religion. Some people disagree with the prayers to Mary, and how you can only take Communion if you are Catholic, even if you are a Christian. Either way, the point is that you believe in one God, and that's all that matters. People may have difference of opinions of other things, but the main point is believing in God. Stay true to what you believe!

Not at all, indeed the Catholicism has been quit success full lately on the time of holy John Poul II, because of his modern and tolerant way of preaching the Religion, and his openness and great tolerance to other religions, and his considerable knowledge of the world politics and knowledge's and most of all his equal and real love to humanity which made him and also with him the catholic Church popular in the whole world and his religion outstandingly unique of the world, and admiration of millions of atheist's. But He is Dead.

I don't dislike Catholics.
The USA's history has been dominated by White Anglo Saxon Protestants, though, that could be a bias you're getting from WASPs

I am Protestant, Anglican, Catholic...a member of all those churches...in other words a very ecumenical person. People dislike other religious demoninations because they have misconceptions about another faith or don't understand or try to understand another's faith and/or beliefs. I find all of them have the same core belief as stated in the Apostles Creed...but various ways to interpret & live that out. Who is right? & Who is wrong? We are probably all right on some issues & all wrong on some issues. I think God is big enough to handle that. I also think it is better to concentrate on how we alike rather than on our differences.

People don't like religions that exclude people, which is basically every religion. Some Catholics think it's a sin to be gay so maybe gays don't like catholics, but basically religion makes people feel excluded, no one likes to feel left out or hated for something they cannot control.

I don't dislike Catholics in general, but I really have a lot of trouble with their beliefs... for instance...
1. praying to Mary and other saints... Bible says to pray ONLY to God in Jesus name!
2. calling a priest "Father"... God is your spiritual Father!
3. using a rosary, crossing hands over the chest, kneeling & standing a million times durring prayer... Jesus said not to be religious about praising God! Instead we should talk to God as the friend & Father he is... as though he were right there listening.
4. Pergatory... Where is that even mentioned in the Bible at all??? When you die you are going one of two places... Heaven on Hell... there will be no stops on the way to "wash your hands"
ahhhhhhhh! I could go on and on, but I have probably offended enough people with this answer... but hey, you wanted to know why right???

I realize that there are people who desire to make certain the risky factor or how Christian you relatively are. i'm now no longer precise right here to decide you, i'm precise right here to tell you what you the way would desire to to come again in superb status with God and his all you will would desire to worry approximately, now no longer men. pass to confession as quickly as which you would be able to desire to and piece of e mail that character back and tell him/her you would be sorry and which you're a Catholic Christian or in basic terms a Christian (whether I evaluate your Catholic appropriate?) and that those words will would desire to no longer been mentioned and for you will no longer look after sinning you desire to renounce the entire element and tell him/her that if their Christian they're going to would desire to grasp your room. Then block your e mail from 2 weeks ( merely in case they do no longer look ideal Christians. God Bless and that i desire this enables.
