Wow that's a selfish question. Obviously whoever is doing that has personal problems, and they need to start respecting themselves and get off the couch, put down the ding dongs, and exercise. Getting a job might be a good idea, too.

It is disrespectful to call your partner 'fat' and 'lazy.' With someone calling her names like that, I wouldn't be at all surprised that all she wants to do is eat sweets. I'm sure she does other things. Like going to the bathroom, sleeping, listening to you complain about her...

If you want someone to treat themselves better, the way to encourage them is not to call them names, and criticize, and complain. Most newlyweds gain roughly 10 pounds in the first year or two. If that is what has happened, it's completely unfair of you to call her 'fat' and 'lazy.' When did you expect the 'better or worse' and 'in sickness and in health' parts to kick in? After 50 years?

If she has put on enough weight (30+ lbs) that you fear for her health, you might try being concerned about that, and not so self-centered and upset that she is 'disrespecting' you by 'doing' this to you. There are ways to communicate such things to our partners without being critical, maybe you should try that, rather than getting 'justification' for your self-centered behavior on here.

It is disrespectful to both parties.

Note to Christians: Isn't the body a temple, a gift from God? Then why are there so many Lardassians at Applebee's on Sunday after church???

Depends on the life partner. Some people will love you no matter how you look. No matter how well you take care of yourself you will get old, sick, or boring. There's not much to be done about those things, but people who are old, sick, or boring still have loved ones.
