A bootable disk is a cd or 3 1/4 diskette that allows you to boot your pc in case of problems. If you have a newer pc it probably came with one for system recovery. The only main uses for it now is to either boot for diagnositcs or for benchmark tests. There really is no reason to create a bootable diskette unless it came from your manufacturer. (personal belief anyway) The reason is that your system comes with specific drivers and a copy of the operating system pre-configured. You can make one of these if you have the time and want to invest in it, but like I said, if its a new pc I'd reccomend you use theirs or order one. You cna find a link to do that on thier website or you can call them. It costs a few bucks but if your pc ever goes down for some reason it's good to be able to fix it without sending them the machine. Hope this helped.

A boot disk is pretty important. If you hard drive crashes, you will need a boot disk to get a new hard drive to work. Depending upon the age you PC, the boot disk my be included with your PC or you may have to create one. You can create one set of boot disks for each new PC. Basically, you are creating a copy of Windows as a backup. If you haven't created a boot disk and you PC crashes, you won't have a copy of Windows or other pre-installed software. This is another means of cost savings for the PC manufaturer. The don't bear the costs of the disk or creating it.
