I was reading some answers earlier and something was brought up to the effect that "southerners should all be hanged for treason." (Civil war talk incase you weren't aware by now).
With that being said, I can't help but wonder what those same people would think about Americans who also turned on their home country (England) during the Revolutionary War. I mean, same principle.
Not taking sides here but am only interested in other's point-of-view.

My question is what is the difference between the Confederacy committing acts of trason against the USA, vs USA against England.

I fear you have all missed the point of my question. I'm only examining the circumstances of the justification of treason. Nothing more.

It just sounds like ignorance to me. How is this a religious question?

What does that have to do with religion?
But as for your question, your logic is good. But I am against hanging either group anyway so I guess I am biased. Those who acctually participated in the civil war paid for it after the war. The poverty and other things that ran rampant in the south following the civil war was plenty of punishment.

No country grows with out conflict, and none that is born ever does so gracefully. If southerners should be hung then we should also hang everyone else who has ever fought against themselves, despite if they won or lost. The only problem is, there would no longer be a world population.

I have a problem with an exhusband who is still upset, after six years of being divorced, that I left him. It's like....what is the point of this resentment? Can't a person accept something and get on with life?
And someone is actually reaching back almost four hundred years and coming up with something this idiotic? I get exasperated with people who spend their lives looking in the rear view mirror!

when people have to look back to their ancestors to find something to make them angry, it's just plain sad!
I am a Cherokee and my ancestors were really intruded upon and their land taken away.. many killed.. many re-located and lost touch with their people. I feel bad for them, they are my people, but it's in the past... at the same time I realize that this did not happen to me personally.. should I take action upon those guys that did this? maybe hunt down their great great great grandson's and hang them? thank God, some of us grew up and learned to rise above tragedy and decided to get on with life!

I am from the south and proud of it. What makes me mad is this still going on now. I wasn't around back then. You people were not around back then, it was not our war, so why do people have to keep dragging it back , all these years later ?

it's all very complicated. when there's war, there are always going to be bitter feelings. after all these years, those bitter feelings seem to still be fresh.
