Good point. Boat building would have been a common occupation and you could easily survive 40 days in a boat as long as you had plenty of drinking water (rain) and some basic provisions.
It's quite a common event these days with all these round the world yacht races.

Lets say your in Kansans and your building an aircraft carier!
how many people do you think today would start building on, about the same as in noahs time!

Last it may be the the flood may have only been a local event!
The goal was to destroy all the seed of Adam that fell to the fallen angels!
Don't need a global flood to do that!

That was the whole point of the story: Noah had faith and did what he was told by God to do (build an ark). Other people thought he was crazy to do such a thing when there was no rain. Then they all drown, except for Noah's family and the pairs of animals on the arc.

Noah (and his family) were the only ones that believed there would be a flood or in God everyone else was in sin. that's why God destroyed the world. and i think you would need a pretty big boat to survive 40 days and 40 nights.

Noah was given specific instructions on building the ark by God. That is why he and his family along with all the animals species were the only ones saved. The purpose of this being so that God could destroy the old earth and bring forth a new one.

Well...Noah was the only survivor of the flood...and Gos intention was to wipe the earth clean...so I'm pretty sure even if someone was in a boat...they didn't survive

You are thinking of the HBO version of the story. But I think in most of the others he is the only one.
