I'm not quite an atheist, I'm an agnostic. But even though my viewpoint may be unpopular, I feel no need to tear down people of faith. What would I have to gain by doing so? I am curious about what drives them since they are different from myself, and that can sometimes be misinterpreted as malevolence. But I'm a psych student with a curious nature. Nevertheless, you're right, no matter what people believe they should and can be productive citizens and not care so much about what other people think. I've also seen Julia's questions, and she does seem like an angry jerk or someone with a bad sense of humor.

I don't feel the need, stop stereotyping!
It matters occasionally, when the moral code includes hurting others, for instance, I would prefer a world without the KKK or the mudja-hadeen.
Ok, you, sitting in your chair, says you would accept it or leave. Sure you're in a position to know about it. Hey, but according to you, minority groups should leave, right? If I recall correctly, there are slightly more men than women in America... c'mon, prove you are serious and send your women away, and legislate to discriminate against them. Just try it.
Tearing down others' belief structures? **** me dead, you just loooove to stereotype.
And for the record, I go back to the example of the KKK and (this time I'll choose the taliban) ... how DARE you waste your life tearing down these peoples' beliefs structures? (End sarcasm)
I guess the point is, if someone believes in helping people, that is completely fine. If someone believes in taking advantage of others, then that person needs to have their beliefs challenged.
Gragh! I'll say this one last time: Do. Not. Stereotype. Me.
Thankyou.

The Collapse of Atheism
We are at a turning point in the history of mankind. Atheism, that has so influenced the world of science and thought since the 18th century, is now undergoing an inevitable collapse.
In this film you will see how the most basic assumptions of atheism collapsed with scientific, political and sociological developments in the past decades. From the theories of Charles Darwin or Sigmund Freud, to the fall of communism or the hippie dream, see how the atheist dogma falls at the dawn of the 21st century.

Atheists do have some small points which I, as a believer in God and Jesus, have to side with them on.
Not being a Boy Scout because you don't believe in God.
More importantly, not being able to play after school sports because you won't pray.
I won't force ANYONE to pray the way I want or say AMEN to anything I say. It is forcing them to follow a false prophet, which goes against Christianity!
Saying One NAtion Under God in the Pledge of Allegiance is another thing I don't approve of. It goes against other religions, including Judasim, Islam, Buddishm, Hinuism.
To make one do this forcebly puts us on the same ground as Islam, which forces everyone to Praise Allah!
FORCES.
I force my God on no one.
Any God that demands you kiss their shoe, isn't a very good God.
Christians, Jews, Muslim, Buddists, Hindus who INFLICT their views are no better or worse than Communists, Agnostics or Atheists who INFLICT their views.

I am an atheist and I have no problem with other peoples beliefs, I welcome their religion because it is a part of them and I respect them. I prefer not to announce my atheism to other people because I don't want to offend them. It's a case of to each their own ya know. I have only myself to answer to in the end and I am happy with my beliefs and I feel others are entitled to the same.

What crap
I find Christianity really offensive. It is antiscientific, imposes ridiculous moral codes on people and gets them to spend their lives in unfullfilled ritualistic grovelling. It is warlike. Christians are currently waging a religious war against Muslims that has killed hundreds of thousands of innocent lives...Iraq etc. Christians are not productive members of society.... Crusades, witch hunts, colonial god sponsered genocides of natives, burning hetretics, MCarthyism, pograms,holocausts... that is christainity. Tearing down faith is good. Faith is ignorance, it is believing something unbelievable that you know to be untrue. Atheists and agnostics are the most productive members of society, they don't waste time patting themselves on the back, praying, playing bingo, going to church, dyeing easter eggs, feeling sorry for temselves for being so stupid etc. Atheists and agnostics predominate in higher places of learning. Christians predominate in prisons and mental hospitals. God rot you

Your morals are pretty shoddy, kid. You're simply not good enough to be telling atheists who is and isn't a productive member of society. We're simply better than you are - smarter, more moral, more patriotic. And it's ignorant, arrogant Taliban like you who are tearing down society, not us.
Get lost.

I suppose other atheists want to help liberate people of different beliefs, as they think it will help them throughout life. I'm an atheist, but I abandoned those beliefs at least a year ago. Now, I'm content to just let people be.

I have a moral obligation to spread truth and demolish myths and lies. Only by destroying that which is false, including religion, can humanity progress. Science, by its very nature, is designed to purge incorrectness and falsehood. Religion, on the other hand, demands dogma and the refusing of rational thought.
