It is not us when you say "this country". It's the politicians that we elect that are making those choices for us. They seem to not care unless special interests get involved.
Vote, Vote, Vote for those who want to help rebuild New Orleans. We have rebuilt MANY cities across the world. We send a team of SeaBees, but they won't do that for our own US?
New Orleans needs to be rebuilt more than we need a memorial. 9/11 victims will always be in our hearts. The families of 9/11 have been taken care of. Now it's time to move onto New Orleans and take care of those who need us.
The Government better step in before the entire city of New Orleans is bought up by Corporate America. The traditional culture needs to be restored.....or New Orleans will be just a memory to most of us.

New york has more people and it is more talked about than Mississippi and Louisiana. We arn't killing people for Kitrina. But 9/11. More people were involved in 9/11 that could be blamed for it. The north thinks it is better than the south too. More goverment officals have money in New York than the Gulf.

People will remember one way or another, memorial or no memorial. I agree that the amount of money they want to spend on building a memorial is ridiculous. The money should be spent for food, clothing, shelter, medical care etc, for those who can't afford it, especially in New York City. How do you think those people are going to feel when they see the memorial? Concrete, steel and glass won't feed the hungry.

It is not. However, building a memorial is way cheaper, helps Bush and the republicans look better for the mid tern elections. And lets not forget the race factor. What is the hurry anyway? For Vietnam vets that were killed it took years and private donations to build. Of course only 58,000 were killed and Vietnam was unpopular war.

The United States has plenty of resources to do both, but one side has been trying to kick butt and take names for six years, and the situation is almost desperate. Our priorities are in the garbage category and as long as nothing changes in Congress or with the Federal Government in 2008, you are going hear one thing and see another. That is the way of Bush and Cheney.
They are both into propaganda and hopeful wishes.

The gulf is still there dear. It doesn't need rebuilding. St. Bernard's Parish is being rebuilt. I've been there to help and my son is still there working two jobs to assist with the reconstruction. Katrina did not launch a terrorist attack. How can you even compare the two?
