I kinda agree with you.... They should just have you press 1 for Spanish after all we are in America....... my somewhat comment is for "SLEWPY D" this question was non racial and you made it that way.... You say Mexicans (better yet lets use your term "SPANISH SPEAKING PEOPLE") should come into YOUR country and respect YOUR culture when over half of YOUR country, that do speak English don't give a sh** about YOUR culture let alone respect it!!!! You want to talk about welfare... I worked at a welfare office and 80% of the people there were from YOUR "country".... and over half of them were "playing" YOUR welfare system!!!! I'm sure next time you go on vacation to a "Spanish Speaking" country, your going to take the time to respect THEIR country, fit into THEIR culture, learn THEIR language and respect THEIR borders!!!! Unless you want to be hypocritical about it!!!!
note: I DO capitalize by choice!!!!!

Because if you don't press a number, the phone system will just keep asking you for an option until you press something or get an operator. I think you might be asking why you have to choose English instead of getting it automatically. But then, if you *did* speak Spanish, you'd get dumped into the English line without a choice to get a Spanish operator. So, since there's a choice, you have to pick something from the menu. Sorry, man--that's the way call centers work.

England didn't eject the French from North America after defeating France in the Seven Years' War, and Canada is paying for it to this day. We are paying billions of taxpayer dollars every year to Quebec to keep them happy, so they won't separate from Canada. But, there is still a strong separatist mood there.
Maybe America is paying the price because the US didn't eject the defeated party after the US-Mexican War from the hard-won territory in the Southwest USA?

I fought and bled in two wars for an english-speaking America and bitterly resent pressing one for english when I telephone.....i immediately hang up. I further resent seeing so much in spanish...from your billboards which you do not mind to the labels on cans of food. Let the spanish-speaking people work harder to learn english in order that they may protect themselves from being preyed upon by unscrupulous americans who underpay them and put them in sweatshop conditions. Spanish-speaking people must be proud of their heritage, but if you come to my country to live, respect and fit into my culture, learn my language, and respect my borders. All people are humans and as such deserve respect and fair treatment, but illegal aliens do not deserve to come here and avail themselves of our welfare benefits, and those who cross the border in time to birth a child which is automatically a u.s. citizen, play our welfare system for all they can get. There is absolutely no longer any reason for anyone born here to become a u.s. citizen automatically.

You could have pressed "1" hundreds of time instead of asking this question, and you're probably not even going to call that many times :-p

Maybe it's because you don't search a question before asking it.
