The father of modern genetics was a Catholic monk; the father of the atomic theory was a religious Jew; mathematical notation was an Islamic idea; the most famous nurse in history was an evangelical Christian, the founder of psychanalysis was a Jew; modern astronomy was the work of a devout muslin in Istanbul; a tibetan monk walked from Tibet to Bejing for the sake of peace; the priest who brought down the soviot union became Pope; printing was developed in Europe by a Catholic theologian; pure mathematics was pioneered by a Jew; matrix encoding was a Jewish religious idea; laws of motion were the brain children of an English Protestant; natural selection was the theory of another English theologian. What was your question again?
The nazi's claimed there was no G-d and demanded slave labour, as did the Communists in Russia. Pol-Pot in Cambodia forbade religion and his nation fell into agrarian ruin. What was the question again?
I believe in G-d, like many devout people I pray and study the Torah. I have masters degrees in English Literature, History, Biblical Studies and have completed a doctorate in Theology. What, might I ask, are your credentials? Ignorant and Lazy? I was reading a newspaper in Yiddish this morning before you got up for coffee. And I trust you can only speak one language. And there are muslims and Christians smarter than me.

Not really. Lots of people feel the need to have someone or something do the thinking for them, and if it wasn't religion, it would be something else. Ever notice how there are people who let a political party think for them? Those folks look pretty ignorant and lazy, too.
Religion (or politics, or whatever) doesn't make people ignorant. It is the willful refusal to -think- about one's belief that does that.

I do not agree with you.Religion do not make people ignorant and lazy.Yes everything happened to us is in line with God's plan but we do not know exactly what is our God's plan to us.We should try hard to make better our fates.God will not change our fates without our hard efforts.God wants us to work hard, diligently and wealthy. The poor people can not help others and can not pay alms and compulsary or obligatory taxes..God Almighty wants us to pursue sciences for our benefit to be a wealthy and healthy and wise persons.Sciences is needed and fruitful for making us have an adequate competency. or have capability for accummula
ting money by efforts in line with our religion and spend it for giving love and helping others also in line with our religion teaching. In line with our religion,we can not earn money by stealing and gambling and other wrong doings. We should obey the rules of our religion.

The two ideas you espouse do not have to coexist. Some Christians believe science is quite useful, as evidenced daily by our use of gasoline refinery, generation of electricity, satellite systems, lightbulbs, medical advances, etc. God gave mankind a lot of raw supplies and a brain to figure them out. I think part of the social responsibility is to give back to others - whether that is by creating a useful invention, investing in the lives of children, contributing to the financial security of the poor, etc.

Why do you say something like that? It's hurtful to be called ignorant and lazy. Do you want to know something? I have studied the bible for TEN years. Ten years! And I mean really studying it! I haven't devoted so much time or thought to anything in my life, ever, before. I believe in Jesus and the bible because of the evidence I have seen before me. I'm not lazy and I'm certainly not ignorant.
If you don't believe, well that's your choice. But why do you have to insult people who do?

No, I don't agree. Ignorant and lazy? That's funny. My religion has never viewed science as useless. In fact, many of our parishioners are also scientists, and many of us hold multiple graduate degrees (myself included). Being lethargic, intellectually stymied and careless is not the hallmark of any truly religious person I know.

Actually I think it works the other way around. It is the ignorant and lazy ones that use religion as their excuse for doing nothing, because then they don't have to try to justify their decision to slack off.

Religion is multilayered and cannot be put into a narrow catagory. There are so many and not all of them believe that diety takes care of everything so nothing else matters. Please do some reading, talking and studying so that you have some idea of what you're saying.

What would be ignorant is not believing in God, and still posting about God
if you think you NO there not a God in heaven, then why keep trying to prove there not?
It like you have doubts in you non believe
