Yeah it probably is dumb. But there is a feeling of magic when you see first see your bride or groom waiting there to marry you. You were two people just the day before and now, you begin the first day of your life as one.
Shouldn't part of love be about magic?

That is just an old wives tale. Most people see the one they love anytime they want. Why should't they see them the night before the wedding. If you want to follow tradition then don't, but that doesn't mean you will have bad luck. Life is what you make of it. Good Luck if you are the bride or groom. Congratulations. May God Bless.

I have to correct you; it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her dress. If you see him for breakfast in your street clothes, it's not bad luck.
Lots of people spend the night with the bridal party beforehand, which is nice. Do your beauty control, pass around the bubbly, talk about how it's your last night as a single girl.
If it's gonna fail, it won't be because you didn't keep away the day of, it'll take more than that!!! But you have to admit, the whole thing of waiting is very romantic...all that anticipation!

I don't think people really believe it -- I think they just like the tradition of it. Personally, I think most wedding traditions are silly, but hey -- it's their day. Let 'em be nutso.
And P.S. My hubby and I saw each other all morning before the wedding in and out of our wedding clothes. We've been married for almost 17 years.

Maybe it comes from the days of arranged marriages, and the parents were afraid that the bride or groom would split upon first seeing their intended. Who knows.

ok, before each thing, ignore with regard to the remark about your fiance no longer searching sturdy in white. in recent times, white is a really stylish alterative to black... highly even as black received't bypass with your hues. to illustrate, my fiance and groomsmen are donning gray, my pal is getting married, and her adult men are donning tan. White is amazingly fantastic... and it received't seem as if promenade, thinking the reality that it will be a wedding ceremony, no longer a promenade. in any case, (sorry, that irritated me), it honestly relies upon on how classic you're. for sure, there is not any such ingredient as success... it basically comes right down to human being opinion. and actually, after the marriage and on your honeymoon, the perfect ingredient you may want to be questioning is "guy, I want we did not see one yet another before I walked down the aisle." you know what I propose? So i might want to assert surely bypass with taking images before hand. no longer surely does the photographer want that (you may plan for more desirable time, truly than hurrying as a lot as come again to the reception and cease holding the visitors waiting) yet you've more desirable proper hair, makeup, etc. also, i favor to point having a "First seem" photoshoot. (i wager it truly is what they're being referred to as in recent times. that's a series of imagery in a particular area the position the bride and groom are photographed popping out of printed spots and their first seems at one yet another are captured. That way, you shop the cost and sentiment, besides the undeniable fact that that's likewise way more desirable effective. I have considered some stunning First seem images, some the position bride and groomed got here out from behind timber, yet another the position they each walked a course that peaked and the met on the authentic of the hill. they're such candid beautiful images, and that i imagine they're slightly more desirable proper than on the modify because you've a touch more desirable unrehearsed inner most time. you may snigger and tlak about how staggering one yet another seems. you may calm each others nerves and performance a touch quiet time at the same time before the large adventure. Oh and trust me, you'll seem basically as beautiful, if no more desirable, even as he sees you the 2d time, strolling down the aisle. God Bless, and congratulations!

Because it is. And has always been. It is tradition. Every couple I know of who have seen each other before the wedding have gotten divorced, usually rather quickly. Goes back to the Celts, way back. They were smart people.

its just an old superstition that I believe started when marriages were arranged and they were afraid that one or the other would run off if they saw what they were getting before hand...this is the reason for the veil to I think....
