BRRRRRRR
Even the surfers wear wetsuits to keep warm.
However, if you are game, Sunset Beach just west of Coos Bay is a good one. D Beach, already mentioned, is also.
But you do have to watch for undertow, rogue waves, and logs, esp after storms. Every spring several people are killed or injured playing on logs on the beach, the surf hits the log and rolls it over on the person.
Oregons beaches are fantastic for kite flying though!!

Sorry to interrupt the party here, but no. Oregon's beaches are gorgeous, the sand is bright, the tidepools fullof creatures, and the water is unpleasant to lethal, depending on where you are.
Why? You have water temperature that will- no joke- induce hypothermia in about 15 minutes.
You have undercurrents, also called riptides, that will pull the strongest swimmer under and/or out to sea
You have "sneaker waves" which knock people off of rocks and into the water, or into the rocks, or both.
You have harbor seals, which means you have sharks. Great white sharks. One bit a surfer in Florence right around the 1st of this month.
Other than that, the water is absolutely hazard-free, except for jellyfish. Man-o-War jellyfish.
If you're planning a trip here, the beaches really are a sight, and you might see gray whales, seals, sea lions and all kinds of smaller ocean life in tidepools. We all love going there, but getting in the water is something to only do if you know the area you're going to well enough, if you're a strong swimmer, and if you have a good wetsuit.
I'm not trying to scare you, but we lose kids and adults every year in the surf here. Please don't become another one.

Yes, Oregon has several beaches good for swimming. One favorite place of mine is D Beach. No pun intended. And to add to that fun, the D River (shortest river in America) runs into the Pacific Ocean there. Mixes salt and sea water, great to sand sculpt in and the beach itself is wide open, easy access to parking and walking down. Happy swimming!

Oregon has good beaches. And good swimming if you belong to the club that likes to swim in cold water. (Polar club???)

I loved Ocean Side. But everyone is right. It's chilly in the water -- check out when the Japanese current is closest to the coast. You might be better off finding a lake near you.
