how do i train my staffy??? she is a smart but stubborn dog, if u call her she will turn her back to sort of say im not listening. she does the easy stuff like sit etc, but i want her to go sit on her bed when told, i want her to stay when told and most of all she very jumpy she always jumps up on ppl especally if i go out for a little while then come home. she does listen to me to a degree but only to me not my husband or any one else. i was told its because of the alpha dog thing that she listen to me because she will play rough (she knows not to be rough with kids)with my husband or anyone else but if i try she just drops. im not sure how to get her obident and listening to commands from my husband. any advice would be appreciated

Your husband needs to spend a lot more time with the dog.
I tell my dogs to "go be somewhere" and they go to a different room and lay down.If you want your dog to go sit specifically on her bed you need to come up with a word or short phrase for that command and take her to the bed and make her sit everytime you use it.
When she turns her back on you don't let her get away with it.Go around her to where she's facing you and command her again.
Same principles apply in raising a dog as they are for a child. The whole family should be involved in training not just you.Otherwise dog will only look to you for direction.Everyone must use the same commands and in same tone or dog becomes confused and eventually stops listening to anyone.
Also if you'd let the dog out for a run or at least a 30 min.walk before you start training exercises dog will be alot more willing to pay attention to you.And have hubby giving commands and treats right along side of you at first then alone so experience will be just as pleasurable when he gives commands as when you do.

Read the book by the Dog Whisperer. I believe he has a show on the Discovery Channel also but the book is probably a better idea. I have a staffy who came to us from the humane society and was well trained or just unbelievably smart. Best, and most gentle dog I have ever had. Don't give up on him/her.

Watch the dog whisperer Cisar Milan on the history channel.

Your husband will need to take time out for training sessions so the dog listens to him also.

I have a male staffy x and it must be the breed that they get the stubborness from. He is now 7 months old and lives with his border collie sister who is 10 months. She is trained so what we do is get him to watch her do what we ask and then ask him to do the same. You need plenty of food rewards and you will probably need to have her on a check chain depending on her concentation levels. You can also train her on her own but you will need plenty more food rewards. That's the only way ours listen to me. We don't need to bribe our staffy with as many treats as before but a few don't go astray.

We had a lady from puppy preschool come to our place and help us with the collie and everything she taught us we taught our staffy. Hope that helps you a bit. Good luck...

Your sentences ramble. You have no capital letters and no periods, so it is difficult to figure out what exactly it is that you want answered. In general, you seem to be saying that you have a rather disobedient dog. I'll deal with just one item.
(But first, you have a breed of dog that is not known to make a great pet. Staffys were bred to be fighters. The ones that get sold to people may be several generations away from that, but the instinct of independence is still there. That's what they were designed to do.... hopefully you knew that before you bought this breed of dog. Those animals deemed by fighter/breeders to not be tuff enough are sold as pets, and as such they are unreliable. For no apparent reason, many of them snap, and tear out someone's neck or tear off an arm. Newspapers commonly report such incidents. My vet friend will put a staffy down for free.)
Now, one problem that you may be able to correct: When it jumps on you, do two of three things. Always say its, name, then the command down. "Benny, down." With your shoe on, step on its hind foot gently, but make sure he feels it. If the dog is off the ground, raise your knee into its chest. Don't do either of these so hard as to break a bone or hurt it in any way, but make the dog uncomfortable. Always say his name, and always the command. He will soon make the connection of "If I jump up, my hind toes are hurt, or I feel some pain in my chest". Again, use only enough force to get him to make the connection. You do not wish to injure him. As for the other things you'd like this dog to do, tough with this breed, sorry.
