We have 7 or 8 DVD players-and all, even when new, Hang Up on a frame, freeze up, start-stop, etc. What would cause this? Take them to the repair shop, they find nothing wrong.

Fingerprints on the DVD surface itself. Also if you stack other components on top of the DVD player, the weight of everything might cause the player to warp and then subsequently malfunction.

Dust. It's impossible to fix completely unless you send it in to the company. Some companies do it for free but most are assholes about it. You may need to buy a new one.
