As far as I know there are only a couple of commercial port producers in Portugal that crush grapes using the stomping method. These wineries are required by law to have a doctor do inspections of the feet of those involved in the stomping. This is only being done this way now because they feel that the mechanical crushers some how lessened the quality of the port which has 17% or more alcohol in it so not many bacteria can grow in that environment. All of the other commercial wineries today now have mechanical crusher de-stemmer's that are use to start the wine making process.

Yes, grapes are crushed by foot and sold commercially. These are mosty small scale wineries. It happens in Portugal for Port, I know it happens in South Africa.
One of Australia's most famous wineries. D'Arenberg is now advertising with a 'Foot Trod' logo on some of their labels that they have foot stomped it. Their website says "The grapes are processed as are all of d’Arenberg reds, using the gentle Demoisy rubber toothed, open-mouthed crusher, and fermented in wax-lined, headed down open fermenters which are foot trod (and being ever hygiene-conscious here at d’Arenberg, the feet are clad in waders!) - see http://www.darenberg.com.au/default2.php
But do I have concerns about drinking wine made from grapes stomped by feet? Not at all. Think about what else is on thegrapes when harvested. Insects, bird poo etc etc. It is all sterilized by the action of fermentation and any solids are filtered out.
There are many things in life to worry about, and this isn't one of them.

First of all that's not the wine that is being "stomped" but the grapes. and second of all i do not know how it is in US, but in Italy and Europe YES the do "stomp" with their feet! Maybe 2 or more people get into a big wooden pool full of grapes and " stomp" it over and over again. And that is how it's done. However i do not believe that this happens much anymore.

It is sold and is even more expensive in many cases than mechanically processed wines. It doesnt gross me out because the hygene is just as extreme on thier feet as other companies have on hands. Plus the fermentation process is filled with bacteria anyway.
