I have seen many people post in answers that the existance of Jesus as described in the Bible is "the most verified fact in history." What are these verifications? What are your sources? Please DO NOT quote Biblical sources, because the Bible is the text that describes his life and death and resurection. That is ONE source. Only one. One source does not make it the most verified fact in history. Quote a source OTHER than Biblical please.

There is no contemporary evidence that Jesus existed. Not one jot or tittle.

I guarantee that you're going to get a person by the name of Josephus as an answer. This is not an answer. Josephus' reference to Jesus is highly debated, with many historians believing that his blurb about Jesus was added by someone else, since it makes no sense when put IN CONTEXT (yes Christians, non-believers can use that excuse too), and taken with Josephus' own history.

... I see I was right. So now here's the next logical question, why only Josephus and maybe one or two others (others that don't do much more than merely mention the name Jesus)? This was a person who supposedly performed miracles in front of thousands. Or, at the very least, was a major source of political upheaval in his time. You'd think there would be a treasure trove of documents... relatively speaking.

The Shroud of Turin?

There was a great deal of written evidence of things even before Christ's time, in a Library in Alexandria. We do know that this library burnt down. During the middle ages, unfortunately, there was a great deal of book-burning and pillaging. They just didn't have sprinkler systems or weapons with which they might defend these artifacts, let alone their own lives, thus Europe suffered what is called "The Dark Ages". Some of the house that Jesus was supposed to have lived in was brought to Rome. And if you ever care to visit the Holy Land, there are shrines built around the places he was in.

There have been many, many revivals in the last several hundred years where many, many people have experienced miracles of healings through the ministries of people that claimed Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Their preaching and teaching the Bible has borne and continues to bear fruit of bonafide (documented) miracles.

The names of only a few of these ministers are here: John Alexander Dowie, Maria Woodworth-Etter, Charles Parham, William Seymour, John G. Lake, Smith Wigglesworth, Aimee Semple-McPherson, William Branham, Jack Coe, A. A. Allen, Kathryn Kuhlman.

To name a few. There continues to be people that experience healing through faith in Jesus Christ and the acts of the Holy Spirit today. Some present-day ministers that have manifestations of the supernatural are: Rodney Howard Brown, John and Carol Arnott, Bill Johnson. These people continually move in gifts of the supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. Their witness has this validation, that people leave changed in their lives and their bodies because the Bible is true, and Jesus Christ is Lord! All it takes is someone that believes Him to step out in faith and to obey His leadings.

The reason they say the fact that Jesus existed is the most verified fact in history is because as far as research goes, that is true.
There is more proof for the existence of Jesus then the existence of Napoleon. *drdino.com
Think about it, just because you read it in a textbook, doesn't mean it happened. But we are so ready to accept the existence of Napoleon, but not Jesus. makes no sense to me.

Fine, but first what evidence do you have for the existence of George Washington? But you can't quote people who knew him. Or were related to him. Or heard about him. And any/all texts from his time period aren't to be trusted, because they are old and who knows if they were copied correctly? As for the originals, how do you know they weren't just made by some guy?

there is more evidence to Jesus being truth then the big bang theory. do you know how precise and exact all the conditions are to create life and how perfect the conditions would have had to be for the big bang to occur? If the calculations for the big bang are correct, then if the numbers calculated for the big bang theory had been one decimal place to small the universe would have been sucked back into the giant ball of mass and energy by its own gravitational pull, and if it was one place to high it would have completely destroyed itself. So ima stick with God on this issue

Historians agree that Jesus existed this is not disputed by people of education only weather or not He is the Savior of human life or not can be debated. I hope you find Him as your savior.

The Bible is more than one source, because it conatins more than one piece of writing. Luke used a number of different sources for his gospel account.

Josephus the Jewish historian mentions Jesus.

Have you heard of the Shroud of Turin?

The formation of the early church is a type of evidence. Obviously something motivated the early Christians to die for what they believed in.
