It depends on whether it crosses the line from an enjoyable fantasy to a stressful reality. If you find that it is interfering in your relationship with your bf, and you think that relationship is something worth keeping, you should probably reconsider. If it doesn't interfere, and you're having a good time, I think you should go for it.
Definitely.

What's the operative word in "internet love affair"? Affair. An affair is cheating on someone.

Why all of the sudden do some people think that while having a normal affair is not ok, it's some how ok if you do it through the internet.
Cheating is still cheating no matter how you do it.
Why not do the bf a favor and just break up with him if your going to do this kind of junk.

Yes in a way. DOnt lead some guy on if you have a BF already. Ask this to yourself "if your BF finds out you are flirting with a man online, what would he feel, say, think, do about it?" That is your answer whether it is cheating or not.

Don't do it if you love your boyfriend. It is cheating, what happens if you really fall in love with the Internet person? Devote that love you are giving to the Internet person to your boyfriend. If you don't love your boyfriend, let him go, break it to him gently and carry on with your Internet love affair, it is just not fair to devote your attention to someone else even if it is on the Internet.

If you can go to him & tell him everything that is going on, & he's OK with it, then it's not cheating.
The best way to build trust in a relationship is to be an open book with your partner. No matter what you do, if you are hiding something from him that you know would affect him one way or the other, then you aren't being true to yourself, or your partner, & it's cheating.

I don't know if it is cheating, but it can certainly lead to real cheating. You know nothing about this person. If you meet them in person, then you are cheating. If you don't meet them in person you are flirting with a potential stalker or homicidal maniac. Stop while you are still alive!!!

No, i think it's really harmless only if it stays as an "internet love affair" and not a real- life love affair
