This is a wonderful question. My own parents are very active and independent, thank God, even though they are in their sixties. However a time will come when everyone who has parents, have to face this question.
As adults, the few things that differentiate us from generations on either side of us - young and old - is that we are in our prime, active, strong and CAPABLE of helping those who are not.
We are the strong link between two weaker ones.
Many people today put their parents in old age homes, or get a caretaker to live in their parents' home. Its not uncommon and you would be completely understood if you did the same.
Thats one way of handling it.
Taking them in, is not easy. Its hard, downright difficult sometimes, if you add cranky, bossy or seriously ill parents into the picture. It would take the patience of a saint to care for them, love them, and show respect while you are at it. To do whats hard, and then to do it cheerfully? Not easy. Why, its almost like.....
like when you were a baby, pooping one second, hungry the next, awake all night, cranky in the mornings, when guests come to coo over you, puking on everyone's shoulders, throwing a tantrum in the mall, park, someone's home, refusing to eat, do homework, come home at a decent hour, making the wrong friends, keeping parents up at night wondering where you are, wanting a bike, car, the same expensive holiday your best friends parents took her on, a new hobby, and suddenly, you're off to college. Whew.
The weirdest thing about taking care of our children and our parents, is that we come to realise how dependent we all are on each other, and how we all were - and will be - vulnerable and in need at some point or another.
In those times, it would help us to have a cheerful, loving family member around, a strong set of hands to guide them, as our parents themselves once guided us, strong, familiar shoulders they could lean on.
They say a home is where your heart is. You are, and always will be, your parents' best product. They would be most at 'home' with you.

After all, I think we owe them that much. :)

I wish I could put my parents in a home. I'm sure they will burn the house down.- Not to be funny but if they do- do I get a discount on the cremation?

Just because they are old doesn't mean that they are incapable . My Mom is in her late 80's and lives by herself. She still cooks and cleans. So day you'll be old too. unless they have started a fire I think you are worried about nothing. Before you go moving them you better ask them!

It is all depending on your house and your time given to them and depends on the quality of the house you thinking on putting them in.

Some houses you put them in are like animals and some are like Hilton.

How much attention are you going to give them?
How safe is your house going to be for them?
There are many issues involve
Good luck

When my grandmother caught the curtains on fire while burning a candle, they hired a full time housekeeper. Thank God the money was there and the luxury was affordable.
