Jesus wrote nothing because he is a fictional character. Supposedly St John "stole" the christian idea from Jesus, but he really stole the idea of christianity from the rag-clad miserable christians for political ends. Christianity was a cult for the poor. It ran like brushfire in a world where the context of slavery was paramount and the gripof the wealthy and the powerful was unshakable. Christians then found solace in that cult, in a way it was probably one of the first attempts at populism. It grew politically and it became clear that well turned it´d fast be a force to be reckoned with. That´s why Constantine feigned to embrace christianism when he did. It was a shrewd political move. Until the middle of the 4th century, the trinity was inexistent, it came as a winner out of the council of Nicae when representant from all the branches of christianity tried to find a common ground. Orthodox christianity went its own way, the aryan church all but disappeared and catholic church became what we know today. All this to say that the bible is a sum of written "testimonies" that were put to paper (or pergamine) centuries after the jesus incident. Some linguists say that the style is contemporary with 9th century syntax. In any case, many have contributed to produce the most harebrained piece of mythology ever. The written words are not congruent and often contradictive. It´s all about power, wealth and blind followers, as always.

First of all, I am not a Christian, neither am I am deep student of the Bible; but comparing religions interests me, and this is just my point of view, with all my biases...

The thing is that the Bible was what different people wrote to show the life and teachings of Jesus. Therefore, I think contradictions could be ascribed to the different view points of the authors, rather than in the teachings Jesus.

For example, I often wonder about the treatment of the Roman Governor (Pontius Pilate) when Jesus was brought to trial. In one version he seems to try to save Jesus from crucifixion since he knows it's all a political ploy, in another he seems to want to expedite the situation... This guy was quite central to the story of Jesus, and I think his behaviour then would determine is he is seen as a good guy or a bad guy. To me that's kind of important.

Another example is the cursing of the tree which had no fruits when Jesus was hungry... I kind of think that was not really a teaching of Jesus... (Matthew(21:18-19) and Mark (11:12-14))

Anyway, I am not sure Jesus 'made stuff up as he goes along', I would rather think his life was a journey and he learnt and thought about things just like most of us, and developed his ideas and beliefs over time. I would see an evolution, not a series of outright inventions.

I am not sure Jesus could have been born with the truth imprinted in his mind/soul; else he could jolly well have been a child prodigy, instead of making his mark only in his late teens onwards.

Actually, you might be interested in reading about different theories, of how some people believe Jesus was in India for his youth and how his belief system was similar to some aspects of Buddhism/Hinduism... His focus on equality could be what drove him out of the Indian region back to the Middle East...

Also it might be interesting to compare the views of Jesus under the Christian (son of God, immaculate conception) and Muslim (one of the prophets, immaculate conception) traditions...

Jesus did not write the bible. The first 39 books were actual events that happen and the people were able to keep track of what went on. Most were messengers, teachers, and other spiritual leaders. God spoke to a lot of people. The new testaments brings about new laws because God knew that we would not keep all the commandments that were given in the old testament.

You know I just love the way people who answer questions don't really know just how it is with Jesus and GOD and the holly Ghost. First off Jesus said the things I do I have seen my father in heaven do. So when David was to do a senses in the land, GOD told him to do it when the people came in to do sacrafices, but did David do this? No, he sent men into all the land to make sure that all the people were counted. Well GOD was angry about this so he sent an angel and started to destroy the city but David got on his knees and prayed to GOD saying that he alone was responceable and not the people for disobaying his order and he alone should be punished, and with that GOD repented of what he had done. So you see GOD himself can apologize also and be sorry for what he does but GOD is purfect. Now as for the rest of the story. You were created in the likeness of GOD, so you have a body which represents Jesus and you have a ghost which represents the Holly Ghost and you also have a sprit ,or soul which represents GOD so no mater what you do, you can never escape the judgement to come, no mater what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. Jesus actually quoted a lot of Scripture (old testament) in His teachings, expounding on it and illustrating it. The Jewish Canon was sealed (nothing more added) about 100 years before Jesus was even born, so He wasn't talking about anything these people didn't even know already.

What contradictions are you talking about? If you are going to claim them, baby, then NAME THEM.

Jesus never contradicted himself. He is the son of God. It would be good for you to get a copy of the American Standard version bible. It was translated so that we can understand. Maybe that would help you.

The bible stories are the interpretations of his (Jesus) disciples, in some cases years after his death and Resurrection. That may explain the contradictions you are talking about. It is the same events seen and lived just through different eyes.
