Has he done this before? Just watch him. I agree 6 is way too much but it might not be for him My husband has done the same thing. He gets, I guess you could say "immune" to painkillers like Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Some prescription pain killers wear off or don't even work on him. Just make sure he doesn't do it too often and if he does start acting weird take him to the emergency room.

Honestly...he shouldn't have done that, and I don't want to say that's not a lethal dose, coz for him it might be. Get him to the ER. He'll be feeling a little sleepy soon so coax him to sit in the passenger seat of a car if you don't think the ambulance is fast enough. If he's not sleepy soon, go ahead and call the nurse anyways yourself.

Note: I used to take too much Tylenol for pain and other things when I was younger. I stopped that after a while coz it's the wrong thing to do. Anyway. Earlier this year I took just one Extra Strength Tylenol, after so many years of having zero Tylenol, and I had a moderate anaphylactic reaction. Didn't know that's what it was called at the time, so it took about eight hours till it was out of my system for all the symptoms to be through. Had to drink lots and lots of water....

Your friend had better deal with his pain a different way, coz I'm sure I'm not the only one in the world to develop allergies in that fashion.

Call the ER yourself. Ask how much Tylenol is a lethal dose, or call your poison control center. I know under some special circumstances, Tylenol can be used in higher doses, but only if prescribed by your doctor. All he is doing is covering up the pain, it is going to come back. If he is doing this all the time, then as he gets older, he could have kidney and liver problems from taking too much ibuprofen or acetametaphin. It seems like you care about him. Do some research with the hospital. If he won't call the ER, do it yourself. Best to you...

That's not good. Tylenol dissolves/processed through the liver, and I've heard LOTS of stories of people going into liver failure from too much of it. That's why you shouldn't take Tylenol when drinking or hungover. I'd probably go to the ER to be on the safe side, get some charcoal. If he refuses, at least tell him to vomit that up somehow before it dissolves, get some ipecac syrup or the never fail finger down the throat bit.

He won't die from 6 Tylenol. He probably won't even get sick. I usually take 4 at a time because 2 don't help. Just make sure that he doesn't drive, assuming he is over 16.

Your best bet is to call your local poison control center and see what they say to do! Er Nurse will tell you to bring him in regardless.
Good Luck

It won't do much to him right now, but it can (and usually will) cause liver damage in the future. He does need to see a doctor.
