Normal people don't go into a bank, throw furniture around, then leave without taking the money.

Did he have legal representation? Jewish or Roman? Private, or court appointed?

What was the case of the defence?

Why no appeal to a higher court?

Jesus didn't "plead insanity" because He wasn't interested in "getting off" on a lesser plea.

He didn't knock over the local bank, either. He threw a bunch of merchants out of the temple courts, where they didn't belong anyway. This was understood as an act of religious zeal even by His opponents; they just questioned his "right" to do such a zealous religious act (it was actually their job!).

No, Jesus had nobody to "represent" Him, either before the Sanhedrin, or Pilate, or Herod. No lawyers or scribes to speak for Him (and yes, they did exist!); He represented Himself.

In the Jewish Court, Jesus was tried for Blasphemy (lying and/or slandering God, Moses, or the Torah). A guilty verdict would bring a death penalty. Several witnesses were produced to detail his teachings, but could not agree with each other, so their testimony was dismissed. The High Priest asked Jesus directly if He was the Messiah, the Christ of God, and He (Jesus) said "Yes, I Am". Since the Sadduccees (the political party running the Temple at the time) and the Pharisees (another political party, heavy into legalism) both HATED JESUS' GUTS, they declared Him a liar, and guilty of blasphemy. Lacking the authority to kill someone they had condemned, they took Jesus to the local Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate.

Pilate was the higher court! He found Jesus guilty of nothing more than popularity. He tried to pass Him off onto Herod, but Herod sent Jesus back (Jesus wouldn't perform for him). Pilate tried repeatedly to release Jesus, using every trick he knew, but finally caved in to the demands of the High Priest, who was threatening to cause another riot, and report his (Pilate's) lack of patriotism to Caeser.

Pilate was also proving a point:" we're so callous, we will even kill somebody we KNOW is innocent, so don't mess with us"! The Romans ruled with an iron fist.

Jesus was actually found innocent, but only the Romans were allowed to execute people which is what the Jews wanted.

Jesus didnt make a plea because a prophecy about him described him as being silent while accused by the people that would put him to death. Moreover, Jesus wanted to do the will of the Father which was to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

There was no insanity or any other pleas, no lawyers, and the defendant after mild to severe torture, as per the way the prosecution thought of him, had to present any defence he may have had or thought of during his time being flogged. Only a roman citizen had any hope of appealing to any higher court. Dudn't work unless you were rich but you could try.

Roman and Jewish courts alike held to the law. No liberals in those times to get criminals off on technicalities, no endless appeals system.

I'm surprised you're not sophisticated enough to know this. But, don't thank me, I live to educate the less fortunate.

Jesus said that no one takes His life, but that He lay his own life down for the remission of our sins so that those who might believe on Him would not have to die, but instead could have everlasting life.

He could have defended himself fully. He could have asked for representation. He could have squashed each and every argument made against him. He didn't because he was fulfilling prophecy as God's Son. He became the once and for all sacrificial lamb atoning for all man's sin if only they would believe.
