I'm not going to say it should be Mandatory, however, I will say I think it could make life a little easier for someone coming from another Country. I mean Americans can sometimes be harsh to men and women who don't speack English. And secondly I will say that I believe that its only in America that a person can come and demand that you that their native language. I mean if you go to any other country you must speak their language.

It should be mandatory to learn to speak English while living here. If an American went anywhere else in the world, we would get sneered at if we didn't care to learn the language.

I think it should be mandatory for Americans to learn one other language-most foreign citizens already know two or three languages, they took the courtesy to learn English and we need to take the courtesy of learning their language too (but I think we should get to chose what language we want to learn).

I think a working understanding of the language should be required if you live/work here. how else are you gonna drive or get around if you can't read the street signs? How will you know what the laws are or whether you are breaking them?
