i was pulled over for improper plates and i asked the cop why he pulled me over and he said he read my plate and it came up improper i was told that he has to have a reason to read my plate and he gave me known

The U.S. Supreme court has addressed this issue. The police can randomly "run" a plate for no reason, even if it looks completely OK and valid.
because your license plate is exposed to the public view, no expectation of privacy. No violation of the 4th Amendment occurred.

What??? Any idiot with a third grade education and fully functioning eyes can read your plate. Why would they need reason to? And if it was "improper" then it was improper and you would have got caught anyway so get over it.

Nope they can run any plate number at there discretion. If they get behind you then theres a 99.9 % chance they will run it for wants or warrants. So if you ever find a cop behind you - The smart thing to do before he gets the chance to run it is to pull into a gas station or store. They will pass you by 90% of the time cause it takes 2-4 minutes to run em. Once he passes you ..YOUR GONE!!!

No,they don't need a reason. They also run plates at random on the National Crime Information Center.

No reason is necessary. You have no legal expectation of privacy in your license plate, which is required to be publicly displayed precisely so it can be looked at and checked.

i got the same thing but i say its because im black because the cop ran a light in the opposite direction of traffic just to read my plates. so proud our PD has to stop me and take my plates instead of catching the bank robbers in my town.

no. they get paid to do that. how else was he to know you were breaking the law. im glad you dont drive the same roads as i do. ok i take that back. i have driven many mile without tags or insurance back in my younger days.
