It is an ideal that some people have. Some people feel that waiting for this big moment and for some it is big moment to have sex for the first time it is better to wait.

You should wait until you get married for many reasons. What makes you think all husbands, or 50% of them would cheat, or get a divorce? Even if that did happen, it's best for a woman to wait on having sex.

You need to find someone who is willing to have the same vow, then it is not an issue. You should never marry someone that you don't trust or anyone who is going to even consider divorce. Divorce certainly happens and it is a terrible thing, but much of it can be eliminated if you take your time and do your homework. Why give your special gift of virginity to some scumbag just to have sex? Why not make it special for both of you?

Wouldn’t it be a better world if everyone would just listen to the Old Catholic teaching of having sex after marriage? A world where people would not divorce because they truly love each other, willing to sacrifice for one another? A world where couples don’t hurt each other physically? A World where people do not cheat with one another, thus avoiding the cause of divorce in the first place? I know it’s not going to happen in a not so perfect world, but in principle, if everyone would just follow it, we wouldn’t have all these ugliness and pain around.

Women, for the most part, believe sex to be sacred and have a meaning to it. As far as virginity, I don't think men see it as something sacred like women do because men aren't really "losing" anything like a woman does with her hyman. A lot of women see it as a religious thing where they want to stay pure for their future husbands. I'll tell you from experience, I'm a virgin at 27 years old and am waiting for marriage and it really saddens me that it's probably very, very unlikely that my future husband will be a virgin, too. When you have sex, you give a part of yourself to the other person.

While having a relationship with the opposite sex, it is to be kept at a level of interchange of ideas for the sake of compatibility. The focus is on building a relationship. When you throw sex into the mix, the focus changes to the sex and the foundation of the relationship is never finished, it is flawed and cheapened by both of you.

Waiting for the right one is a good thing. Its not about what the other mate does. Each must carry there own load. so to speak. I for one believe the bible when it says not to have sexual relations till married. Its the best way to go.

It is a matter of choice.
I am marrying the only man I've had sex with. Studies have shown that waiting can cause some pretty hefty damage in the relationship... especially if when the deed is done, it is disappointing. (lucky for me, my finace is wonderful)

It has to do with morals and being pure until you join your husband who should also be pure. Now in the real world it is virtually impossible to find that situation. The idealism that comes with these ideals is nice but I don't see it happen very often anymore. That's a shame!

My chioce to wait until I was married was not so much for morals as personal health. Every person you sleep with is like having sex with eveery person they have ever slept with If just one of those people had a STD then chances are you will get it too. No thanks!
